    What Is It ????

Its called a P38 because it was built in shed 38 in solihull plant and it was supposed to be named Pegasus but because it was a secret before the car was released the engineers referred to it as the P38....the name stuck (my useless bit of trivia for the day)

Any one changed a rear damper?? Mine has snapped in half lol

After a bit of slightly enthusiastic off roading in my P38 :D it developed a knock and wallowing all of the place i kind of suspected the damper so got underneath it with the mrs jumping up and down on the tow bar only to see the damper completely snapped from its bush mounting. This is...

    Foultrousers

When you buy the pads you buy a fitting kit which is basically 4 new bolts. Cost about 99p i think for all 4. These are the bolts that hold the Piston assembly to the caliper carrier. Yes the old ones will be rotton and the sliders may well be stuck. Mine was completely stuck had to get a oxy...

Plenum removal for HT leads change

Hi mate thanks for reply i neglected to mention its a P38 4.0. The misfire is only on LPG so that rules out a petrol injection problem. There is no misfire on petrol at all runs sweet but LPG its a dog. I checked it at night and sure enough a couple of the leads were arcing to the engine block...

p38's are officially rubbish....dont ever buy one

If i had a car that didn't need any "involvement" to make it work i'd get bored. For example I quite like it when my lpg starts giving the occasional cough as it means i can spend a couple of hours stripping it, cleaning it and making it work again. Thats why i bought the P38. Now man up a bit...

    Boiling water

Leave it overnight then in the morning when cold open the header tank cap. If theres more than a little hiss as you undo it then you may have a problem with the head/head gasket. Remember a head gasket can fail accross a cylinder/coolan channel so you don't always get oil contamination...

P38 4.6 Petrol: Mass Airflow meter. What symptoms?

Sometimes you get lumpy idle when the maf fails. Best way to diagnose is to disconnect the maf and the ECU will use a default fueling setting, if it runs ok with maf disconnected then you know it was your maf at fault. This has worked on a couple of my mates cars at work after they have spent...
