    My new V8

Just picked it up and had a short motorway drive to get home, It certainly goes well. Couple of things, there is a pulsing through the brake peddle at all braking speeds, which I assume is a warped disk? is there anything else that would could this? Secondly there is a switch with a picture of...

    dodgy brakes

It might help if you tell us what vehicle. Is it fitted with ABS? I would start my investigations at the master cylinder, Have you checked the fluid? It sounds as though the primary brake circuit is faulty and its the secondary circuit that is kicking in.

sorry to bore everyone-but another insurance q.

Just keep shopping around, I'm currently with Swiftcover for both my 300tdi and my new 3.9V8i. Do all the comparison sites. I have never found any of the specialists to be cheaper than main stream insurance companies, I've tried them all over the years and have found most to be a waste of space...

    Correct method for hill climb

low 1st will give you too much torque and make the tyres break away which leads you to the problem you had. The TC on the Gaylander, sorry Freelander will have compensated for this. :) As has been said lowbox 2nd gear lots of run up :)

Hmm, I'd need to drive a known good one to feel the difference though, I guess a test at a tuning center would soon spot a low output though?

Yes just sussed that one from another thread, so whats the signs of a worn cam, without removing it? Cheers :) I was thinking of getting the engine steam cleaned to get rid of the old oil runs, I can see then where its leaking and to what extent.

    My new V8

Thanks, I'm glad you reminded me I noticed a nick in the drive belt and made a mental note to replace it, but forgot to order one. the rear step pushes back up fine and stays up so I can live with it. Regards the alarm, is it just a case of obtaining an ecu and fobs from a scrapper...

    My new V8

Thanks for that. I've just ordered the rocker gaskets and a full service kit, I'll also change all the fluids as you suggest its far cheaper than rebuilding/replacing gearboxes etc. Someone quoted me 10mpg around town so at current prices I'll need to re mortgage just to do the school run... In...

    My new V8

This car came up on a local Facebook sales page and I jumped on it! The guy selling it was an apprentice mechanic at a local car sales. It had come in on a part ex and the lad bought it because he thought it was in good condition and he might make a few quid on it. I looked at it last night...

    3.9 v8 mpg

Might be worth thinking about LPG then because it really is mint and would be such a shame to let it go, there can't be that many 95 Discos out there needing no welding with a perfect undersealed belly...:D
