Just been out and my hp pump hisses when I turn on the ignition. Started normally. The noise changes slightly at the same time as the lp pump changes. I put a cheap lp pump on as I was not sure if the pump was faulty or not. looks like it was so will replace with a pierburg in a month or two.

I have a large deadblow, I did that on and off for over an hour. I have left one nut on loose hoping the driving around will jar it loose. On the point of tying a rope to a tree and putting it under tension whilst hitting it with my deadblow. Frightened of bending the back door.

I would investigate the fuel leak, and check the pump is running. you may be drawing air in before the pump and therefore no fuel getting through. that would be my guess, and it is a guess

I have time on my side. I spotted a TD4 engine with all ancilleries that was £100 on ebay in deepest wales, got it for £105. so i have a high milleage turbo, pumps, injectors, etc and the engine. want to rebuild the hp pump and have it available if I need it.

your not wrong Teddy, its mainly surface rust but it looks bad. plan is to remove one wheel and underbody panel and do a corner a weekend. use a wire brush in a drill and then paint with por15.
