You can be lucky. I looked at loads and eventually picked up a 93 200tdi defender for £2500. It needed some welding (footwell) and seals for an mot, but it was a good honest, pretty untampered with vehicle. My biggest advice would be to take someone with you who knows their landys. I did and...

I had the same problem last week with my indicators. Voltage appeared to be fine. A visit to Tottot and after seeing the birdsnest of wires and scotch locks used to bodge the trailer lights, we changed a few for choc blocks and problem solved.
