Got the gearbox out today and cannot find a reason for the solid pedal? I cracked the slave bleed nipple and the pedal moved, so I thought it must be release bearing, but everythings fine. Well at least I can fix the jumping out of second now.:(

Ok after parking my 90 into a tree I decided to drag the series 3 out of the back of the shed, (parked up in 2006 and not touched scince). I drained the fuel tank, fuel filter, fuel pump, tipped in 3 gallons of fuel, and primed the whole system including injectors with the lift pump, after three...

Injectors leaking, seal eroded and drawing in oil, burnt oil residue sticks to the variable vane turbo. solution-re cut injector seats.

Have you seen this months landrover owner international, article about tdci with the same symtoms as yours.

Oh yes, 9.30 am this morning, it will be a chassis up rebuild, Ive already put disco axels, (rebuilt) brake lines, callipers, fuel tank, steering box, pollybush kit, steering arms, cambelt, rad, and welded 5 patches on the chassis this spring.
