Are they at all rusty or completely rust free? If any sign of rust, have them sandblasted, treated with a good rust inhibitor like bilt hamber then prime & overpaint. My choice would be rustoleum for a DIY paintjob.

Careful buying s/h locking nuts. I did and when arrived it was clear that we're well knackered through years of ham fisted use. New ones aren't much more than £35.

That looks like the result of long term leakage to me..... Is it damp in the back often? Fix the leak while you're addressing the rust!

The repair panels are iseful for giving you the correct angles but it seems like most people just pop rivet / silicone them on top of the rust. As already suggested, you need to see how bad it is and how far it extends. And when you're ready to take the plunge, chop away until you hit good...

I'd agree with many others here. Mig is the way to go. Buy a good 2nd hand unit and check it over properly. It's just not worth 'learning' how to go that thin with MMA - as already said, its just not the tool for the job.

Its not just a flux thing. Same thing happened to me with elephant a few years back. When you add in the cancellation and 'arrangement fee' of £50 I wouldn't ever expect a usable refund.
