    Headlights upgrade?

Doubt it - but not sure what the benefit would be even if you could:confused:

    facelift stereo removal

One thing to ask, did they both stop working at the same time? My 04 has had both front speakers stop working at different times, nothing to do with wiring at rear of stereo - it was the connectors in the door panels - corroded - water had got at em - queue doors falling off jokes...;)

    TD4 Crank Case Filter Replacement

Crankcase breather is an easy job- the under arch filter can be a pig to get out of it's holder.

Automatic door locking - Is it possible?

Is this not something that's provided for in the north American market? Can this be enabled via Testbook?

Sat Nav Head unit and ipods

The iPod connection can be done with the Becker Nav unit, however if I recall correctly I think it'll be at the expense of the CD changer. The audio in connections are used by the changer. If the changer connection is removed you can access an aux menu via the radio controls. The following gismo...

    Awful noises.. any ideas?

Hi Suz - just noted your previous posts re prop shafts - these haven't been refitted now have they? If so and you get this sort of noise be prepared for some bad news.

    Pre Facelift Sat Nav

I've done this and there's a fairly easy way to do it. (although does require some basic wiring skills and patience) Firstly buy a dash mounted GPS aerial - standard fit nav uses a GPS built into the roof aerial - bit fiddly & costly to do - dash mounted GPS works just fine. I put mine under the...

    Awful noises.. any ideas?

One thing to check (although you may have already) is the aux belt/pulley for the a/c. Mine did this but only when the a/c was on - it was the underbody panel that had lifted up on an edge and was getting caught in the belt mechanism. Worth a look.

    Smelly Air Con

I sprayed the air con refresh stuff into the area just to the right of the pollen filter and directly into (once removed). I do this once a year and no wet dog or smelly socks smell.

    2004 CD player

Mantamad's right - the changer option was a 6 disc in dash changer, so no you can't add a changer to this one as far as I know. If you want to change the head unit you can go for a double din unit or buy an adapter kit to allow single din unit.

How good should the air-con be on a 2005 Freelander?

Yeah - I've driven cars in the US (where a/c is really needed) and the system in my 04 TD4 seems very weak in comparison. Having said that, there's about 10 days a year in the UK where it's really needed and we've had 4 of em already!;)

Found this plug under the bonnet

H'mm seem to remember unplugging that when I did my inlet manifold clean (oven cleaner style). Does it run ok with it off? Should it?

    Egr Blanking Mod

I've heard of others using tin can lids that have burned/blown through. I did it with a 2p piece (is that a record for the cheapest landy mod?) and it's still holding out.;)

    code for navigation system

Two suggestions - Quick call to LR dealer and ask them to hand over the code (they may require proof that you're the owner). Or... If you're able to take the unit out of the dash (usually requires special tool - but can be done with thin flat blade - no responsibility accepted for cuts/grazes)...

black smoke after egr blanking mod

My first Ron box installation led to erratic idle - after plenty of useful advice and twoing & froing Ron was happy to issue a replacement, solved the problem instantly! I'm not suggesting that's the case here, but might be an idea to check with Ron - go through all the checks he suggests and...

    My first TD4..Servicing??

Without knowing the history of the vehicle it's difficult to say for certain - the TD4 should be more than capable of handling those sort of miles and many many more. Ron's advice is to ensure the vehicle is properly serviced before installing the tuning module. It's probably a good idea to...

    My first TD4..Servicing??

Thanks for the correction on the socket size Chromio - I'd tried it with an adjustable spanner at first, then after many knuckles grazed and curses a plenty finally relented and bought a socket - much easier now!

    My first TD4..Servicing??

:welcome2: Clemmo and congratulations - providing there's a good service history to your motor the TD4 should be the Freelander that'll give you the least amount of trouble. 1st things first get yourself a copy of RAVE - search for green oval site. This will prove very helpful for most things...

    Freelander headlight upgrade facelift

H'mm I think you might encounter difficulties with the hazard lights/fog lights switches - on 2004 onwards they're not part of the centre console and feature as part of the top of the dash. I seem to recall electric windows and central locking switches being located in the old centre console -...
