    Here we go again

It had been stood for about a year when I bought it. Crankcase filter was blocked when I got it.thats been changed new oil ,filter etc. I guess it could have done a fair bit of damage by now?as previous owner took it of the road due to smoke. So engine swap, how difficult?is whitworth it..

    Here we go again

So to update... Injectors tested and all okay.new washers and o-rings fitted. Starts first time no issues. But here's the issue it still smokes and still feels lacking power. Revs fine but smokey at stand still but when driving smoking and underpowered and to be honest bit rattley. When I had...

    Intercooler sensor

Thanks for that, thought it was best to check before I started randomly connecting wires.

    Intercooler sensor

Just a quick question. The sensor on the intercooler pipe that connects to the intake has two wires marked one and two. I have very clumsily pulled these out, which colours go to one and two or does it not make a difference.

    Here we go again

Thankfully injectors got a clean bill of health. They seem to think they weren't seated properly. So a little bit of good news for a change.

    Here we go again

Always been smokey but bought it that way in Aug.it was cheap for a reason I guess. Taken injectors to be tested today.17.50 each so should know that outcome tomorrow. I'll clean the bore and the seat today and order some new washers and o rings from bearmach when I know the outcome of the...

    Here we go again

Just a thought but could this be caused by badly seated injectors.recently seen a video on here about steel washers being sold as copper.now as mine where not oem as I doubt the o rings where as they have perished and I've quite literally driven less than a mile since fitting them. Clutching at...

    Here we go again

The one I replaced is one of the bad ones very oily and sooty.. Another was dirty brown and not sure if it was wet with diesel or water it was that dirty. But all 4 had new washers and o rings the other week when I checked them, although the new o rings now look worn and frayed. (Took a pic if...

    Here we go again

Well just taken injectors out.2 clean and tidy,1 soot and oily and 1 oily wet and covered in brown gunk. So guess head gasket may be at fault.

    Here we go again

Thanks f That's good to know.fair chance it's the injectors then.

    Here we go again

That's a fair point.any suggestion on what type of firm test them.garage, engineers who should I look for?

    Here we go again

I believe the head gaskets good no sign of water in oil and coolant leval not changed since I bought it in Aug. I have read a few articles that made me think injectors maybe overfueling, but just as many articles send you in different directions, turbo, fuel pumps etc. Just not sure where to start...

    Freelander 1 Oil treatment

"Thanks I'll look into 2-ehn. I know it may sound a bit basic but this is my first diesel so just want to get some pointers from those in the know."

    Freelander 1 Oil treatment

Comma diesel it is then.thanks for that.as for the crankcase breather don't think it had even been changed and it's made a big difference.before I changed it and cleaned out intercooler there was a knacked rocker gasket which was fouling up one of the injectors and fair amount of oil in the...

    Freelander 1 Oil treatment

Just querying if any one uses are would recommend any oil or fuel treatment for a 04 freelander td4. Recently changed crankcase breather upgrade, oil filter, fresh oil etc. But after being used by previous owner with a blocked up crankcase breather for some years it's a bit smokey.cleaned...

    Non starter

It runs.thank god.. Starts with a bit of cranking changed an dodgy looking injector an hey presto. Takes a bit of cranking to start but I think theres a small bit of diesel leaking where the rail joins the injectors as very slightly damp.but still it runs..... Now I can start looking at the fun...
