Need to sell my series 3 88 hardtop to fund the restoration of my series 2 Searle ambulance . its listed on ebay no 283548319748 . it really is a nice landy but the funds will be going back into buying a new chassis ect for this rare ambulance.

that's what I did

sounds like it could still be timing and the noise is pinking

when I fitted a 2.5 in a series 2 I just elongated the holes in the 2.25 downpipe and it fitted straight on no probs.

would improve the look with a piece of carpet over it. deadens a lot of sound as well

place both bits together to the same dimensions as the old unit, then solder them together. you should have got several very small clips with the sender to clip the two parts together but I find it better to solder them

I bought a landy a while ago that had the same problem with the high/low lever and the bracket was bolted to the wrong side of the bell housing bracket . easy fix when you work out whats wrong

if you have a selection of old keys you may be able to wriggle one in the ignition switch enough to move it to the first position then depress the pin and pull the barrel out. most old barrels are pretty worn

I fitted a swing away carrier to my 88 but removed it again because anyone in the rear could be trapped inside after an accident. would be ok on a pick up. if anyone wants it £50 pick up from near Dunstable only used for 1 week. Cannot see how it can be legal on a hardtop

I think when I fitted mine they were both the same . Works OK for me

Was the wire put into the points side of the coil? If you put it to the + side it will burn wire or ignition switch as normally there is no fuse on this curcuit

just use bolts into the threaded holes that you can feel through the vinyl. I seem to remember there was a couple of different positions of hole

this was a problem on old minis. we just put an old piston ring behind the seal and it solved the problem

Clean out carb could be blocked jet

Best to wire with relays to save extra load on switch

may have to run a piece of copper household pipe with an inline shut off valve in it then thanks

can anyone tell me it the heater threads in the head of a 2.5 are the same as a 2 1/4 as I need to fit a heater tap into the head of a 2.5 petrol in my series 2a. thanks
