    Radiator woes

I've got 2 vids, one showing the marble test (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IEX-lTgO4mc) and one using an endoscope - which was only a tenner off ebay and well worth it as it's come in handy for looking in many a dark place since :) The replacement radiator was a Nissens one from Island 4x4...

    Viscous fan help urgent

With these engines taking a particular dislike to overheating, the parts I wouldn't scrimp on (besides brakes) would be radiator, fan, water pump and thermostat :)

    Viscous fan help urgent

Its dead easy :) Give it a whack tonight with a chisel in the joint between the nut and the shaft - just to break any fused join - then soak it in penetrating oil. Tomorrow it should come off ok with a spanner and a hammer. Copper grease the threads when you put it back on as you are bound to...

    P38 overheating

Cracked head or head gasket. The pressurising is the clue as combustion gasses are getting in to the coolant. It probably bubbles too. Others with experience of both will be along to give you a more accurate diagnosis. Nik

    Burst Radiator.

Before you fit, make sure it has a baffle as there are a lot of Chinese copies about that don't have a baffle. No baffle = no cooling. I got a baffle-less one from a well known supplier and sent it back for a refund. I got a proper Nissens one from Island 4x4 and that was fine.

    Insurance issues Springs or Air

But you must have declared the mod to your insurance company otherwise they may invalidate your insurance resulting in it no longer being legal! (of course they have to find out it's been converted, but that's the sort of thing that they do find out about after an accident)

Tearing my Bl**dy hair out! - Help!

That's not quite true. It is. But... virtually all CE marked equipment has a disclaimer on it saying that it has to accept interference from other sources. As a radio ham, I've tried to fight interference for years coming from devices at 432MHz (right at the low end of the 70cms band) and those...

    Springs over Air

It's a luxury car. Air suspension was the whole point. They'd have fitted springs at the factory if the ride was better on springs. Air is much more forgiving over potholes and other terrain which is why it is on the car in the first place. If you have a bad ride, your problem is elsewhere. As...

    doors lock and unlock

And I'd put a pound on it being the boot button. Disassemble, clean, lightly grease and reassemble - or replace. Test operation with a way of getting back in to the car/boot if it fails to work :)

    Diagnostic plug fuse blows

Have you already got the lead plugged in to the Nanocom? The instructions are quite specific about connecting the lead to the nanocom first and then the diagnostic port on the car. The reason is the daft metal plug will cause a short when you connect it up if you do it the wrong way round.

    Airbags to Springs whats required?

You'd be forever declaring the mod to your insurance company every time you renew. The old question "Has the car been modified from factory specifications in any way". If you answer yes, your premium might go up, if you answer no and are subsequently involved in an accident where braking played...

    Thinking of buying one

You'd be forever declaring it as a mod to your insurance company. If you didn't and you had a blowout or ever lost control, they could avoid a payout on the grounds of a modification that could have had a bearing on the accident leaving you to foot the bill...

    Having a look at this!

Price might be high for year, but £2.5k isn't a lot of money for the car you get assuming everything works. If everything does work AND you could screw a one year warranty out of him then it would be a bargain!! (assuming the warranty was a decent one and covered the air suspension and...

    radiator advice

Island are good. Buy another one and wait for the refund. To be fair to them, they don't know you and you could be trying it on, so you can't blame them for asking for it back for testing. However, any failure within 6 months and the onus is on them to PROVE you damaged it. After 6 months the...

Ok, apologies, it's a little off topic, but I wrote my Hyundai Santa Fe off :( I only had it a few months after getting rid of the P38. I need a new car now.
