Took a pic -- is this really too low?

Yep, I did check the fluid level earlier tonight. It looks good to me (although I didn't notice any markings to indicate max/min levels) - it was about an inch from the cap of the reservoir.

It's 1987 V8 with less than 45k miles on the engine (and I've had it for less than 1 year). I can't say whether any work was ever done to the clutch - definitely none that I know of. I don't *think* it's slipping, but I haven't noticed a change in the distance I've driven it (probably right at...

Once in a while, even with the clutch pedal mashed to the floor, I get a wee bit of grinding going into gear (usually 1st or reverse). Otherwise it runs normal. What do you reckon that might be?

Maybe I'm just a nub, but £10k (the starting bid) sounds reasonable if the chassis is as solid as he says. Did I miss something? Not that I can afford it... :(

In case anyone ever cares, I have it on good authority (fanatic) that there's no filter for the split case LT85 gearbox (i.e. the 22C prefix model):

Howdy! Does anyone know if the 22C (split-case) variant of the LT85 gearbox has an oil filter? I've got an LT85 22c on my new (to me) 1987 v8 110. There's no telling how long it's been since the gearbox oil was changed and it's running a bit noisy. So, I pulled out the trusty workshop manual...

Thanks for that Ashcroft link! Reverse is next to first gear, so it's either LT77 or LT85, depending on the color of the main casting: black is LT77 and aluminum is LT85. Just crawled under the bus with a torch and the only black I see is oil :D so I think it's an LT85. Now to figure out...

Just got my bus back from the stealer for (unrelated) repair and noticed oil on my front crossmember. Looking more closely I'd say it's coming from the gearbox. I've attached a pic of what I *think* is the bottom on my gearbox. Is that more leakage than normal? The other question... I was...

Ah, thanks! You can tell how often I use the stereo. Actually just removed my stereo aerial today to make room for a CB aerial (that I don't have).
