    Clutch going (I think?)

Took a pic -- is this really too low?

    Clutch going (I think?)

Yep, I did check the fluid level earlier tonight. It looks good to me (although I didn't notice any markings to indicate max/min levels) - it was about an inch from the cap of the reservoir.

    Clutch going (I think?)

It's 1987 V8 with less than 45k miles on the engine (and I've had it for less than 1 year). I can't say whether any work was ever done to the clutch - definitely none that I know of. I don't *think* it's slipping, but I haven't noticed a change in the distance I've driven it (probably right at...

    Clutch going (I think?)

Once in a while, even with the clutch pedal mashed to the floor, I get a wee bit of grinding going into gear (usually 1st or reverse). Otherwise it runs normal. What do you reckon that might be?

    how much!!!!

Fair enough Pikey, I guess that's why people ask you for advice and not me :)

    how much!!!!

Maybe I'm just a nub, but £10k (the starting bid) sounds reasonable if the chassis is as solid as he says. Did I miss something? Not that I can afford it... :(

90 is by far the best....

   You guys go thru motors like most folks go thru toilet paper. :D :p

    LT85 22c gearbox: is there a filter?

In case anyone ever cares, I have it on good authority (fanatic) that there's no filter for the split case LT85 gearbox (i.e. the 22C prefix model):

    LT85 22c gearbox: is there a filter?

Howdy! Does anyone know if the 22C (split-case) variant of the LT85 gearbox has an oil filter? I've got an LT85 22c on my new (to me) 1987 v8 110. There's no telling how long it's been since the gearbox oil was changed and it's running a bit noisy. So, I pulled out the trusty workshop manual...

    Leaky gearbox? Where's the filter?

Alrighty, I'm convinced that I've got an LT85 split-case/22C. Now... Here's my guess: the 22C variant of the LT85 doesn't have an oil filter. Anybody tell me otherwise? Aside from not being able to find the blasted thing, I think the workshop manual backs me up. I attached two pics, one...

    Leaky gearbox? Where's the filter?

Thanks for that Ashcroft link! Reverse is next to first gear, so it's either LT77 or LT85, depending on the color of the main casting: black is LT77 and aluminum is LT85. Just crawled under the bus with a torch and the only black I see is oil :D so I think it's an LT85. Now to figure out...

    Leaky gearbox? Where's the filter?

    It's a 5-speed

    Leaky gearbox? Where's the filter?

I've got an 1987 v8. Not entirely sure it's a LT85, but that's my best guess. Any good ways to find out for sure?

    Leaky gearbox? Where's the filter?

Just got my bus back from the stealer for (unrelated) repair and noticed oil on my front crossmember. Looking more closely I'd say it's coming from the gearbox. I've attached a pic of what I *think* is the bottom on my gearbox. Is that more leakage than normal? The other question... I was...

    What's this key?

Ah, thanks! You can tell how often I use the stereo. Actually just removed my stereo aerial today to make room for a CB aerial (that I don't have).

    What's this key?

    Spark plug gap measurer?

    What's this key?

This thing was on the key ring when I got it, but I have no idea what it is. Sorry to be dense, but what do you reckon it is?

Bolt extraction... it might be time to raise the white flag

Just so TMHM can't say I ignored a request for pics... here's what I got. There's my two extractors with squared-off ends, the pilot drill bit that snapped  (subsequently removed with a pair of needle-nose pliers following much cussing), what's left of the bolt (so you can get an idea how...
