    Clutch Fluid

CHC fluid? Not heard of that one Plain old DOT4 fluid

1.8 Clutch Master and Slave System

It will bleed to an extent... but it still feels like there's a massive amount of air in it. Even though I used a pretty odd method to bleed the cylinder, AFTER bleeding the pipe... I think this part is simply too far away from the slave cylinder to be effective

1.8 Clutch Master and Slave System

it was made as an experiment by a friend - it's not something I've got the tools to make I'm afraid. But generally, the long section is straight-through, using "speed fit" connections (modified to suit the thick wall pipe ours use). The "T" section has a ball valve to seal it off - unscrew the...

    Biodiesel fuel.

Easy to remember rule of thumb: if you have a TD4 - don't use it if you have an L series - fill up on the stuff

Will your Freelander lead to hard core Landy abuse?

most of the earlier Discos still had the difflock capability, they just didn't have the lever to actuate it - simple enough to make it work. Later ones had the whole assembly reworked to remove the innards however. But still worth a check tbh

Freelander 1 What mileage is your Freelander 1 on?

190k - old L series, 1999 seems to ring a bell for the year Using it to commute to work, can get 40mpg without even trying

Will your Freelander lead to hard core Landy abuse?

both the disco and defender use the same axles (to an extent) same LT230 transfer case, and the same choice of engines. Only real difference, is do you want haycart springs, with a garden shed for a body - or coil springs and a CAR body

    Steering wheel replacement

ignition off, unplug airbags. No need to wait for it to "discharge", they simply don't work like that on the Rover based systems.

    Hard cutch pedal, no drive

another option, is that the clutch has simply shat itself, and wedged itself "down"

    Hard cutch pedal, no drive

with the engine off, can you easily select gears? Or is it still difficult? Then... try selecting a gear WITHOUT pressing the clutch, and the engine on. I'm thinking there's an incredibly small chance the slave cylinder is stuck fully extended, effectively holding the clutch down. And trying to...

What have you done to your Freelander today

fitted a new ornament, made from 10mm thick steel

What have you done to your Freelander today

bought a new rear wiper, only to find out it's a weird shaped plastic wiper.... 30 seconds with an angle grinder, and a generic 14" wiper now fits!

1.8 Clutch Master and Slave System

I've had an inline bleed valve made - just as with everything else, I need the time to fit the damned thing

    Other wheels fitments: a list

so stumbled across this list, on a site that allowed you to search by pcd and centre bore - turns out a LOT of Hondas share the same fitment, and a similar offset PCD 5x114.3 64.1 wheels -Wheelfitment.eu | PCD, Offset, Center Bore, mounting and tire size data Gives people a bit more choice...

DIFFICULTY CHANGING GEAR PG1 freelander 2L rover diesel

if the gear selection is like stirring pudding, then it's a mechanical issue - either the UJ is worn, or where it links onto the gearbox itself, is worn. Mine was the latter, and was fixed with an angle grinder, and a bolt Or... if the clutch only seems to release when your foot is...

What have you done to your Freelander today

I fitted a 2k Ohm variable resistor across the pump... similar effect, for less than a fiver, lol Also fitted some SDi injectors, for a bit more poke over that too.

What have you done to your Freelander today

I think what he's getting at.... is adding more fuel, can't change what engine speed is required for a set speed. EG: Mine will do roughly 70mph at 3000rpm. I can add the largest turbo in the world, nitrous, etc... it will still need 3000rpm to do 70mph. To change this, you'd need to change...

What have you done to your Freelander today

nope, was quite serene, and smooth (certainly smoother than at 40mph by comparison) Peak power is at around 4200rpm on any L series, which is approx 98mph. 4500rpm is around 105mph.. but I wouldn't want to put it under load at 5000rpm for more than a few moments, even though it would put it at...
