Easy to remember rule of thumb: if you have a TD4 - don't use it if you have an L series - fill up on the stuff

most of the earlier Discos still had the difflock capability, they just didn't have the lever to actuate it - simple enough to make it work. Later ones had the whole assembly reworked to remove the innards however. But still worth a check tbh
