I see.... I would get it on the road in that case and see what you get. As said you will soon notice if it's had it.
They take no time to change if it is, just take the front prop off and unbolt the hosing. You will need to remove the gear box mount as it stops one of the bolts coming out ! Very...
No problem. What makes you think it's knackered ?
I noticed mine was had it when I reversed off some concrete onto gravel and the wheel span a bit...... viscous unit had seized causing wind up.
Sorry it's taken so long but here is the Viscous unit test :
Secure the output shaft in a vice, gripping the shaft on the drive shaft splines.
With the unit still installed in the front housing place the assembly on the rear output shaft spline.
Apply a clockwise torque of 27Nm to the output...
As Data has said. There is a given load value that should be used. I tested a second hand one that I fitted to mine. I'll see if I still have the info.
At least your rear inner wings are ok..... mine were shot ! Sills looked very much like yours. I see you still have the post bottoms ! Good stuff.... you'll soon be enjoying the benefits of Range Rover ownership...... there are some honest :)
Is there a single cable somewhere that has a connector with a multi pin connector. The original kit in mine is made by Clarion, the head unit connects to the CD changer by what they call a 'C Bus' connection.
There may have been lower specs that didn't have one ??
Usually associated with a CD multi changer, it lives in the space under the subwoofer. Mine has all that kit in... optional extra I would say..... they sound pretty good for a factory setup.
Tis true what Saint says.... the head gasket blows across the cylinder wall and out the back of the engine, very distinctive 'chuffing' sound when running.
I also had the same problem across No's 2 and 3. lots of white smoke and a bubbling header tank. A water drilling from the block to head is...
Tidy looking motor. How are the front inner wings ? Have just replaced mine. I have a factory fitted 200 RRC been driving it every day for over 10 years..... great motor, will cruse at 70 all day and do near 30 mpg's. Yes a bit noisy but if you like the sound of a diesel then that's none the...
Will find out which engine he has fitted.... it's a 2ltr, don't now my petrol engine history to well, are they all 4 bearing before they went to 2 1/4 ?
Would be interested to see the drawings if you don't mind sharing. Thanks
Thanks for the offer... I am looking for one, but an older 4 cylinder engine (not for RR)... although wouldn't mind seeing a photo if you have one handy ?
Was it slow revving or just the wrong gearing ? We had one with similar size engine that would happily do 80 !
The question is not weather the engine is proper, which it is...... but weather the gearbox is ?
Perkins (not the Prima) coupled to a 4 speed with overdrive will pull anything you want for as long as you want as fast as you want..... sort the pump out and stick it back in !
:D
