What shall I do with my engine?

That's what I thought but it could be a while til a decent 200 comes up anywhere near enough to make it worth having. Have heard that if all goes smoothly you can drive a petrol in the morning and 200 by night. Just sick of holding a petrol pump for longer than every pound gets me.

What shall I do with my engine?

Hi all, Really stuck at the moment my 90 currently has a 2.5 petrol and apart from its thirst I don't really have any issues other than it may be a bit lacking for some of the local hills. Recently it broke down and the coil shorted out, AA man reckoned it was the diff so I replaced it and...

Also if going for Halfrauds ask if they have any ex demo stuff they're selling off, my cousin got an ex demo vibe 12" sub for £10!

What have you done to your Landie today.

Gave her a polish yesterday evening with Autoglym paint renovator followed with super resin polish. Well impressed, got rid of a lot of oxidation. Hopefully shouldn't look so silly when my door gets sprayed. Also picking up my new van sides and roof that I got on eBay Monday night for £72.

Took her out to pick up the paint mix, no more odd coloured door!

What have you done to your Landie today.

Replaced transfer box oil and engine oil and filter. Must have been a while since last change, stank of burnt oil and was black as anything. Then treated her to a 9 minute car wash (at £3) to clean her up after the sandy adventure on the beach this morning. Surprisingly less water than I...

    god help me with insurance!

I am on pretty much the same deal, but I'm 17, first car, no NCB. I had a quote back in may with Aviva van insurance for £900 but the Landy wasn't ready a month later it went up to £1500 because I and to put my dad on it and he got hit up the ass in his Audi.

    coil polarity

I don't have a timing light so have just timed it so it still runs smooth and doesnt pink. Will have to get it done properly this week though. Thanks again.

    coil polarity

Just been out and picked up my new coil, done all the steps above and she fired up lovely. Adjusted the timing til it was running smooth. Taking it for a test drive and she pulls better than ever. Getting a lot more radio interference now though, must be the low resistance leads. Will make it...

    coil polarity

Thanks for the reply mate. I will make sure I connect the coil up correctly when I get a replacement. Points should be assembled correctly there is a rubber washer by the screw somewhere I guess this should go between the points and the dizzy body. I don't quite understand what you...

    coil polarity

I don't think it's possible on this one mate. I did try swapping it Around 180' and it wouldn't sit in. It looks like the dowel is slightly off centred so t can't be put in wrong. I also timed up the rotor arm with the rocker arms on cylinder no.1 Cheers.

    coil polarity

Plugs are getting wet and exhaust is stinking of fuel after cranking for a while. Haven't checked cam timing yet, didn't see how it would be driving perfectly then stop one minute, no funny noises just like I had turned the key off. Yep firing order should be correct as long as its...

    coil polarity

I had a reading of 12v yesterday. But now the resistance between the +ve terminal and the king lead is only about 0.3 ohms. But the spark would change when under compression right? So just because it is stronger at air pressure it may be too wiring normal running. It's just so frustrating it...

    coil polarity

Thanks for the reply. I have some NGK R plugs that I bought today and the spark from them with these new lower resistance leads looked like something you'd get from an electric lighter. These new leads with normal sparks produced a better spark. I read somewhere regarding the coil polarity...

    coil polarity

Hi all, Land Rover 90 2.5 petrol 1986 After my 90 broke down Wednesday night with no means of starting I had to call the AA out and tow me home. AA man reckoned the issue was a kn*ckered distributor. So I bought a new one yesterday, at first I was getting a nice spark at the points but...

    Car Stereo Harness Adaptor thingy?

I did my stereo yesterday and connected the yellow wire to a fused feed straight from the battery(matched fuse rating to radio fuse). I managed to find an ignition feed (red wire) in the form of a thick white wire. Or use another separate fused feed with a on/off switch. Hope this helps. Lloyd

What have you done to your Landie today.

Just got home, went to Plymouth cinema with my cousin, around 25 miles each way and got most of the way home and it got foggy, Landy didn't like it. Cut out and won't start again, it's getting fuel, sparking and should be getting air (only got a mushroom filter on) so can't think too much of...

    Radio wiring

Hi all, I bought myself a new radio today from Halfrauds a nice Philips one. I've connected it up to the wires behind the dash that I plugged my old one into before it broke and nothing. I have a bundle of wires behind the dash and have used a white one, and brown one and a big black...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Took it for a nice long drive this evening to see if the new condenser fixed the ignition. Just under 100 miles done and it didn't miss a beat. Also fitted my headlining (courtesy of zippydog cheers) looks like a totally new Landy inside and seems a touch warmer.
