    TD5 wiring. Help !!!

As well as the Circuit Diagrams in RAVE, the Electrical Library gives a brief description of each circuit and has a page for each connector, showing its location and the wire colours in each cavity. Remember, that the diagram of each connector is of its 'face', i.e. - the front, rather than...

    TD5 wiring. Help !!!

The Light Green/Orange trace wire is switched through the 'auxiliary circuits relay' (in the under-bonnet fuse box) by the ignition switch, only when the ignition switch is in Position II. .

    TD5 wiring. Help !!!

Yep, that's the one (Rave01.iso) The NAS version of RAVE is interesting to look through (I'm quite sad :o) but, the wiring diagrams and electrical library are not a lot of use on UK TD5 vehicles (or UK V8 vehicles, come to that!), as the differences in specifications, are just too great. .

    TD5 wiring. Help !!!

Yes, that will work That Light Green/Orange wire is powered via the 'auxiliary circuits relay' on 1.5mm² cable, through the same 15A fuse as the head unit's ignition-switched supply (F16 in the interior fuse box), so could be useful for something. What issues ? .

    TD5 wiring. Help !!!

No, don't connect the driver's and passenger doors together, they're wired to different terminals on the BCU, and perform different functions. The 'driver's door open' function, does things like sound the 'lights on' warning, when the driver's door is opened (and the lights are on). The 'other...

    TD5 wiring. Help !!!

The micro-switches in the door locks, switch the signal wire from the BCU to earth when a door is opened. As Peter has said, the driver's door is on a separate circuit to the other doors, which are all in parallel, on the same circuit. So, you can just leave the rear side and tail door...

    TD5 wiring. Help !!!

That connector is a 'jumper' to complete the rear fog lamp circuit to the towing electrics pickup connector. There's an optional relay that plugs-in at that connector (the 'jumper' is removed and disgarded), which cuts-out the vehicle's rear fog lamps when a trailer is connected to the towing...

    TD5 Central locking

Sadly, that website has been gone for a while :( The article on central locking was very good; so, when I first saw it, I 'dumped' it into a Word document. If you PM me your email address, I'll send you a copy of it. .

    Stereo/Dash Wiring access

The cable route from the fuse box up to the dash is very tight with just the factory harness, once you start adding cables it becomes impossible. You could run an RCA/Phono cable without a connector and, once it's through, solder on the connector. .

    Battery dead, can't unlock doors!

I've had no problems charging the battery this way. I've used it when my D2 has been parked-up for too long and the battery has gone flat and, when I can get my D2 on my drive, to keep the battery topped-up. You have to use a smart battery charger (such as the CTEK), which is OK to charge the...

    Battery dead, can't unlock doors!

If you've got a 12S supplementary towing electrics socket fitted, you can plug a battery charger into this socket to put some charge into the battery. I made up an adaptor to connect my CTEK battery charger to my 12S socket - Mine is wired - Positive to pin 4 Earth to pin 3 .

    Heated windscreeen

There's no power at the switch (other than the illumination on pin 2). The switch makes a momentary path to earth, to signal the BCU to switch on the heated windscreen for the timed period. The BCU does this by switching the heated windscreen relay's coil to earth. So, you will have power at...

When did the ribbed roof stop on Defenders?

The roof was changed from external ribs to internal ribs on the 1989 Model Year - so, from late 1988 onwards. My 'G' Reg. 110 Hardtop, which I bought new in October 1989, has an internally ribbed roof. They changed back to small external ribs, at some point during TD5 production. .

NO, the Land Rover switches are just on/off switches. Depending on which Waeco kit you buy, the switches are either - Low/Off/High switches - as in Vilguy's link - or, temperature adjustable, as mentioned by BGB - A user on the Defender2 forum, did a write-up of installing the Waeco...
