    P38 Air/Con Motors

Well here goes then!;) Typically rangeroverish, when a blower fan fails it goes full belt. I think it is sort of 'on all the time and is reduced by a controlling voltage'. (Is that right O Wise Ones?) Fortunately, and quite rightly, there is a separate fuse for each (ie driver's side and...

    P38 viscous fan

No apparently it just comes on when the head temp goes up a bit. It obviously is pretty effective in that it cools the rad, then goes off again. As I said, barely a flicker on the temp gauge. I'm not that carefree tho'! I must admit I do take care not to overdo it! I've been running like this...

    P38 viscous fan

I took the vicious fan off three years ago, with the thought that I would eventually replace it. Mine is 2001 DT and, as Datatek pointed out to me, has a temp sensor (I believe at the rear of the cylinder head) which brings the aircon fans on when it gets hot. So I was happily running around...

P38 2.5 Diesel ABS TC and Brake light

You've got to have Rave. Just not possible to do anything much without it. Links to downloads on here I think. My experience of the 'three amigos' coming on was an ABS sensor that had failed. And don't forget that you have to drive it before the ABS and TC lights will go out...

    P38A Key problem see pic

If that is just the battery cover then I've got one you can have. It's plastic tho' with a small metal strip for the battery connection. Is that the thing? PM me if you want it and I'll post it.

P38A Cold start / hot start

I think that explains it, I doubt the chains have been done since new. Otherwise it runs fine so I can live with it for now. Thanks for your help.

P38A Cold start / hot start

Is that the 'in tank' pump? Yup, that's working. If it wasn't ,would that not affect cold starting too? Spill off pipes all fine too... I was just interested to know why

P38A Cold start / hot start

'Morning All, 2001 DT. (When glow plugs are all working!) it starts 'on the button' from cold, but once its warmed up it always takes a bit more turning over before it fires up. Maybe twice as much as when cold. I've got a good strong battery and it is reliable and it always starts, so its not...

P38A Its getting a bit stiff...

The auto shift that is.;) Seems to ease a little when everything is warmed up a bit. From D back through 3,2,1 is the worst. Going across into Low range is fine but the forward and backward movement is definitely stiffening up in either range. I've checked everything beneath the cover in the...

95 P38 best place to add additional USB sockets

Its all a bit of a bodge. I removed the whole plastic ashtray surround etc. and cut it up. Cut and shaped a piece of wood to fit, drilled holes and fitted the bits with enough wire connected to reach across to the fusebox. The wood is then just sort of wedged in, " an interference fit". Good luck.

95 P38 best place to add additional USB sockets

Wiring is easy - through into front of centre console (access by removing window switch panel), then under the carpet, under the drivers seat to the internal fuse box. Take it from the main live but do put a fuse on it.

Coil springs or not coil springs

and unfortunately that includes LR main dealers:mad:. And because of the ridiculous hourly rate they charge they make the excuse that it is uneconomic. Previous owner of mine was told it was uneconomic to even diagnose what had gone wrong.

You also have to be prepared for all the abuse you'll get! I'm a black, one legged lesbian and I still get more stick for having coil springs!:D (and they were already on it when I got it!)
