Mine is back in for the retest today. Plate on the rear cross-member and radius arm bushes. Should be fine.... (famous last words)

No offence meant - just sour grapes on my part! :) I'm just fixing up the couple of things mine failed on. It's booked in for the retest on Monday...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Replaced all the front radius arm bushes on my Ninety. Went for Polybush in the end as I don't do huge mileage and the relative lack of longevity isn't really an issue for me. Getting the 23 year old original bushes out was fun though!

Griffdowg - I've got a pair of forward facing fold-up seats in my 90, with proper inertia style seatbelts.

what wire is what/which?? DASH and radio etc..

Your other option is to use a multimeter, a pen and paper, and go through each wire working out what it's connected to. If a previous owner has bodged stuff, you'll need to do that anyway as the manual will be no use.

what wire is what/which?? DASH and radio etc..

The Haynes manual has wiring diagrams.

    Barking up the wrong tree??

I had the same concern after my transplant (!) - I bought one of those IR thermometers off eBay. Goodbye guess-work! I've now got a TIM temperature guage which came with its own sensor - all good now :)

What have you done to your Landie today.

Cheers for that - yeah, I've heard good things about MIB. I considered taking it to them last year... and this year... maybe next year? I'm confident it'll get through this time - there was only one bad bit, right in the middle. It's clearly rotting from the inside out, so it'll just keep...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Cut out some rot from the rear cross member and welded in a shiny new section. Laughed at the "patches" I welded on for the MOT this time last year. It's fair to say the cross member is on it's way out - whether this is the last year I can get it through the MOT remains to be seen...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Not too bad, all things considered. Front radius arm bush needs replacing - these were on my "to do" list anyway. And there's yet another hole in the rear cross-member. I've had a look at the bit they're on about and I reckon I can patch it. A couple of advisories - rear shock bushes on the...

    quick help? steering track rod

I replaced mine a couple of months back. I counted the threads as I unscrewed the old ends, and then put the new ones in to the same point. My test drive was pretty disappointing - the Landy felt even worse to drive! I got the tracking checked at the local tyre place and it was well out. They...

What to look for when assessing a 200TDI engine

I'd second doing-it-yourself. I did mine this time last year - I'd never attempted anything like it before, but after reading all the excellent threads on here, I felt confident enough to have a go. Seriously, if a mechanical numpty like me can do it, (almost) anyone can!

how rusty can a chassis be before its knackered

MIG Welding Forum You need to decide on a budget - "won't break the bank" can mean £50 or £500! I bought a cheap MIG and regretted it straight away. Luckily I got a fair chunk of my money back when I stuck it on fleabay. Then I bought a better quality, but second-hand unit. Definitely the way...
