Had same problem. Was the link to chassis bushes you describe. Replaced with poly bushes and all fixed. Was causing axle to move a little causing the knock. If you park up on flat ground and try and rock the rear wheel I could see the axle moving.

I've used it (zx1). Ran quieter and more responsive from day I put it in. Makes sense when you read up on it. Oil companies make oil to spec to keep costs down. Certain additives improve on this spec.

Last week. Was dry as a bone. I tend to check them every time I'm under the truck. About once a week... but manual for defender says they can be left in and checked every 6k miles. I leave them in all the time.

I thought they could be left in as long as they are checked. Manual says check every 6000 miles.

A frame is knocking too but only when not smooth with throttle. So it could be bushes, a frame, Drop arm or axle bracket. Which is most likely? Bushes? Would worn rear radius arm bushes cause steering to wander?
