Disco 3 (LR3) Issue after transmission oil change

Approx 250miles was quoted to me by Bristol transmissions as being the amount of 'history' the gearbox remembers and takes into account when adjusting for gearbox wear. When you reset adaptions this is reset to 0 so changes will happen quickly. It constantly monitors solenoid performance and can...

Disco 3 (LR3) Issue after transmission oil change

Good point about the previous owner, they could of had 2 tubes of anti shudder in there, or even lucas stop slip. How many miles has the car done?

Disco 3 (LR3) Issue after transmission oil change

Haven't seen anyone ask the cars mileage yet? Is the new oil red or gold? How many miles have you done since the work? It could take approx 250 miles for car to settle down as that's the approx lenght of the adaption cycle. Is there any marked difference in behaviour from when the car is stone...

    2.7 tdv6 Non DPF Oil

Yes but not in UK, DPF was not standard fitment over here. If you have a UK D3 with a DPF then it is an import, a special order or a retrofit.

    2.7 tdv6 Non DPF Oil

Dpf never fitted to UK D3s, regardless of age. I use magnatec stop/start which is A5. Plenty of it going cheap on ebay etc if you keep your eyes out. Got 16 litres for £55 last month.

2.7 TDV6 Metal Chunk in Oil pickup screen

How much of the history do you know? Could of had a failed oilpump casing at somepoint and been repaired.

Disco 2 Affordable specialists near Worcester - chassis

There's apb on the Hartlebury site as well. Again not sure if they do big welding jobs.

Tried egdons? They got a much bigger workshop than mm

Disco 2 Td5 slow to change gear

Drop the gearbox sump and see what's in it. This will give you the next step. These 4 speeds are not that expensive to get rebuilt, seeing as you've put a galv chassis on then I think it might be worth it.

    Disco 3 (LR3) Now it’s lost its marbles….

Gearbox needs to be in neutral if you want to spin one wheel with the other 3 on the ground. Chock the other wheels well! You don't want it walking off

    2-Stroke oil in yer diesel?

Massive thread on disco3.co.uk about this going back years and years. Personally I don't bother. Mate of mine with a perkins converted 110 has done it for years and swears by it.

    Disco 4 (LR4) EPB maintenance/Failure

I bet the blokes who write BMWs service routines don't 'forget' stuff to make the cars look cheaper to run like LR does. If it ain't likey to fail inside warranty then LR don't worry about it. The handbrake module is reliable if its kept adjusted and the handbrake is used regularly.

disco 3 invalid data, parking brake, suspension, abs fault

Your best bet is to get the exact code numbers then head over to disco3.co.uk, it has a LOT of info on basically all errors you're likely to come across with these cars.

    R380 Emulsified Oil

Aye dexron II is ok to use in these boxes, it's cheap and has cleaning stuff in it. Then you can fill with what you prefer when it comes out clean

    R380 Emulsified Oil

A few r380s had oil coolers but not usually UK spec Discos. You'll have a pair of pipes running forward from the side of the box if you have a cooler. You should be able to get at the breather to feel if its disconnected from below. It runs froward then up the bulkhead. If its been stood for a...

    Egr blanking

Check the VIN, if it starts 6A then you're fine, if its a 7A (like my 56 plate) then you have the EU4 engine and you will need the EGR software patch to stop the engine light coming on.

From memory most boxes spec a max and min oil temp for checking. My 6hp26 has a fill plug/check plug so i assumed they all did

    New Defender - anyone interested?

Few companies round our way using sign printed base spec 90 hard tops as work vehicles. The coil suspension versions drop thier arses on the floor with any kind of weight in the boot. Got used to seeing them with thier noses pointing to the sky. In 10 years they'll be like the D3 and early D4s...

    auto gearbox

First thing to do with any autobox problem is check fluid level. Older cars may have a dipstick, usually up against the bulkhead. Newer cars you might need to get to the filler plug on the side of the box. You need to check the level with the car on the flat, the car at operating temp and the...
