Sorry, misread your post, the MAF sensor is the big block with a heat shield in the inlet pipework - leave that well alone. The thing down by the headlight is EGR related yes, unplugging it should sort it out, though I wouldn't worry too much

You need the mass airflow sensor for the engine to work! Just commenting on that's why the entire picture looks different, as the EGR probably looks different to accommodate the MAF sensor. I did my EDC one a couple of weeks ago, replaced the inlet pipe, unplugged the EGR valve, and used the...

By the looks of it, your engine is an EDC one and that's why it looks different as there's a big great Mass Airflow Sensor to contend with as well!

I picked up some on eBay, that are pressed steel/ally, but in the yellow&black/white&black format with a legal font, that look pretty decent and didn't cost an outrageous amount, might be worth a look!
