hi what sender should i fit to my 200tdi engine so it is closely calibrated to my series gauge ? at the moment it reads cold until it gets going then reads red hot :)

when i did mine s11a with s111 clocks i used a s111 temp sender s11s are a similar looking sender but screw into an adaptor then the who thing adaptor and sender screw into the housing hope this helps :)

yes if its a s111 petrol engine you have then the sender unit should screw strait in but as i have said don't use any PTFE / thread tape as it will give the gauge a wrong reading.

if its a s11a petrol engine you have then you will need to unscrew the adaptor out with the sender unit screwed in the adaptor then screw the complete unit into your tdi engine and again don't use any PTFE / thread tape.

if you have a s11a or s111 diesel engine i am not sure what they are like as i have never done a 2.25 diesel to tdi engine before.

i have just thought of something that i was asked when i was at steve parker land rovers bit didn't need it, apparently ther are two types of thermostate housings both look the same but one has all the hole for the sender unit with a corse thread in it and the other has the hole with a fine thread in it but both apparently have the same part number so steve parker got round this by having a kit made with a new sender unit and two adaptors to fit either thread, hope this helps ;)

There is an adapter that supposedly fits the 200tdi housing that will allow the S3 sender to be screwed in (apparently it was used in 2.5 petrols?)
Wherever I looked, the part was not available, or about 20 quid (sod that)
I was lucky, mine reads roughly as it should with the standard disco 200tdi sender - it's a lottery really

yeah i was quite lucky as i had a s11a swb running s111 clocks and a s111 petrol engine so when i did the tdi conversion i just used the sender out of the petrol engine.

just hope the next s111 we get has a s111 engine in it other wise its a trip to steve parkers :(
