Clutch fork, worn through. Best to fit a full clutch kit as the box is out .

With a bit of luck it is just the clutch, but if he removes the plate he can tell if the gearbox is turning or not. Being as there's no drive it should start in gear in any case.

The plate comes off easy, looking from the back it's to the left of the handbrake drum.

I'd remove the round cover from the back of the transfer box, then you can see if the transfer gear/output splines are ok. Did it clunk on take off ?

Mine's a 93, and has a control box/ecu for the alarm which is conected to the c/l. It must have some sort of relay in it as when I forced a frozen lock, the alarm went off and the box was making a noise. Had to pull the plug and bypass it, but the c/l stopped working .

So it's OLDBILLBOB :D :D What sort of fitting are they ? I've got some out of an old scirocco that look like that , made by hella I think. .

It's to the right of the fuse box, bit of a fiddle to get to :D .

Maybe the solenoid playing up.
