When I did mine (99 TD5 auto) at around 100k miles,the bolt was not tight and had worked out a thread or so,But not enough to stop turning the the drive(thank god).If you don't know for sure it has been done,I would just do it for peace of mind-the longest time for me was waiting for the loctite...

Think you will be pleasantly surprised,not much will beat you away from the lights unless you let it.Joining traffic at 30 mph from standing start is a breeze,whereas my old 300 tdi had to wait for a gap

Last night as I started her the fuel guage came back to life and low fuel light extinguished(This was despite trying turning on ignition a couple of times during the day)-still not working. It worked for about 1/4 mile in traffic.then as I pulled away agin-it dropped to nothing and low fuel...

Just had my fuel guage drop to empty and light come on with 3/4 full tank??Is there any fuse in line or is it time to get the pump/sender out of the tank?Cheers for any help

Yes I would guess it is about 3 minutes with only ignition on(engine NOT running)

Well I had a chance to play today.Unplugged the Maf and started her up (no issue).She started fine and appeared more lively to throttle response(or did I imagine it?). With just the ignition on ,I undid diesel filter bottom bleed and confirmed a steady stream of diesel-but the pump does stop...

No I have not disconnected the Maf-but I will do now,just in case it is causing problems(I will order a new Maf)

Well she started fine (typical)-so I plugged in Nanocom and only fault listed is no airflow(Maf is dud,but I knew this)-no other faults at all. In your opinion is it ok to start engine with Nanocom attached or should it only be plugged in once engine is running-ie can I leave Nanocom attached...

Been driving the TD5 all over locally today and called in on a mate tonight,when I came out,started the TD5,it fired and then immediately died and no amount of cranking would get her to fire(she normally starts first turn of key).I checked the electric pump was running,and could hear it whining...

Make sure it is thoroughly dry before refitting

get the wheel out of the way so you can get 2 hands on it -wrap sand paper round it and give it some with both hands-it will come off

Loctite and torque up tight the bleeding oil pump drive while sump is off

Leak off pipes perished on injectors

Was going to suggest battery connections or earth lead integrity,but only know diesels and v8's seem to have their own foibles-glad ur sorted

A 8mm helicoil tap is bigger than 8mm regular tap-the hole would have to have been made a lot bigger for a helicoil not to work
