    How did you move them back? Were they looking good (wipe, action & sweep) before this happened? Can you easily check your park switch on the wiper motor (does not need a dash strip out).

    You need a couple of 9/16th (from memory) spanners to remove that shaft first. Same happened to me while on holiday, had to be recovered by AA. Garage bill was about £120 ish for fitting a new shaft.

    The "power" should come from the LGN wire from the flasher unit to the stalk switch. The stalk switch should then just distribute this "on - off - on - off" to either the LHS (GR to lights) or RHS (GW to lights) as appropriate. Make sense? Got a circuit diagram? Look at this...

    How would a couple of diodes help? Why not rip out the dash indicator light (to stop the "wrong side" being dimly illuminated) and plug a 12v buzzer across the LGN and earth on the flasher unit. This is an MOT pass thing too, audible flasher warning & if its loud enough you can even hear it...
