    Air filter and Snorkel

When I first got my Defender I drove it through water and just about every challenge I could find for it. Now I know what it's capable of I don't bother. I suppose it's something we have to do. When the snow comes it gets enough of a challenge or on the next Morocco trip.

    Air filter and Snorkel

+1. I took mine off. I get better mpg and I don't want to drive my pride and joy through deep water

Green laning kit bag: what to put in it?

The last time I took the high lift jack was on a trip across Morocco three years ago. The only time I used the thing was on the motorway in Morocco on our way back when I had a blow out. And the Defender fell off the jack again. I have never had a situation where a shovel and a bottle jack...

Green laning kit bag: what to put in it?

I'm not a fan of high lift jacks. Mine did more damage to my vehicle than crossing the Sahara and various other off roading trips. I lost count how many times its fallen off the high lift jack and the damage its done to the paint work. It weights a ton, always in the way. My high lift jack has...

Green laning kit bag: what to put in it?

A winch mounted on the front of a Defender is great if you can attach it to something in front of you. But if you want to winch it backwards your a bit limited.

    problems after changing chassis

I run mine with 28 psi in the front and 48 in the rear which works well for me.. I had yellow Polybushes fitted on mine when most of the rubber ones were shot. The ride was on the hard side but did soften up with time and now I don't notice any difference.I was driving down a track with the new...

Took a leap of faith - new first time owner!

Welcome to the Defender family. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Looked after properly they are great vehicles.

Green laning kit bag: what to put in it?

I'm often alone in the forest. I carry shackles, spade, 9 tonne straps, hand winch and a chain saw to cut any fallen tress blocking tracks. The item I have used the most is the chain saw. When I do get stuck normally manage to reverse out.

Lost my Trafficators on my Defender

Hi, Thanks for the input. Someone mentioned on here that the trafficators were on a separate relay to the hazards. They said the relay for the trafficators was behind the speedo. Anyway I have ordered one so will see if that does the trick. Hazzard switch is only about a year old and not a Blue...

Lost my Trafficators on my Defender

Hi Rougharse, mine is a 1990. I have taken all the fuses out to check that none of them had blown. Brake lights are working, only the trafficators have packed up. They only thing I haven't checked is the relay. Think I am going to have to buy one to check that out. Many Thanks.

Lost my Trafficators on my Defender

Is the trafficator relay different to the hazards relay?

Lost my Trafficators on my Defender

I had a similar situation about two years ago. The hazards stop working. I had to change the switch which sorted the problem out. Everything was working fine, half way back from visiting a friend and the Trafficators just packed up. It was only the other day I was thinking to myself that my...

Lost my Trafficators on my Defender

Lost both direction on my trafficators but still have the hazard lights. Checked all the fuses, all OK. All light bulbs are working. The steering stalk switch is only about two years old, I reconnected the old one which other than the horn was in working order. Still no trafficators. My...

    Hub centric wheel spacer problem

I fitted steel wheels which were off set by +20 which enabled me to adjust the steering lock nuts which gave me a much better turning circle. I'm not a fan of alloy wheels and even less of a fan for wheel spacers. They put extra strain on wheel bearings.

    Happy Birthday Jo (the 90)

So I take it Jo is up for a Morocco trip next March/April then. Did you own Jo before the 1:2 disco transfer box was put in? I have been thinking about changing mine for one but wonder if its worth doing. I know you have a better motorway cruising speed, but do you loose the low down grunt.

red diesel anyone know the law?

You can always tell who is using red diesel around here, they leave a cloud of pink smoke behind them.

Are these symptoms of a faulty MAF? Or something else?

When was the diesel filter last changed

    Other service intervals

Same as above, I give mine a full service oil's and filters just before MOT regardless of mileage.

    Overheating countermeasures!

My 110, 200 tdi has crossed Morocco more times than I can remember during the hottest parts of the year. It would never cross my mind to mess about with the cooling/heating system. I did run it with a Kenlowe electric fan for a while, but have since switched back to the Viscos fan which I...

    Morocco Easter 2018

I have another English friend out that way. I will have to see how close he is to you when I get back. We are in our camper at the moment at lac aiguebelette for a few days so I don't have all my addresses to hand.
