I'm currently having the same problem minus the engine light coming on! It's normally when cruising around 45-50 mph. Revs will go from around 2000 up to 2500 drop down to 1500 then back up to 2000. It will do this normally around 3 times until I take foot off accelerator of put it down more...

Complete rear axle need. Also the two rear shocks are leaking oil. Shocks not a problem as got a brand new set off eBay for £70, just struggling to find a replacement axle!
