New to the TD5 engine as had a 200 tdi before. When I start up from cold, after a few seconds I get a groan from the nearside of the engine. (Appears to be coming from left side as I sit in cab). Goes on for about 4 seconds and then never happens when engine is warm. Its not the engine itself...

Any tips for mounting a radio firmly in a Defender TD5. The plastic surround looks like it might be missing a lug or two and appears to have to take all the weight of the radio. Wrap it in foam perhaps? Or any decent mods I can get for the mounting?

My 110 pick up has failed its MOT. Needs some patches on chassis (easy) but also welding up around front outriggers which may need the bulkhead off (which needs replacing anyway). Dont have the time for this as I need a working vehicle. Original Defender 200 tdi engine, fully reconned 2 years...

As above, needed for a farm based workhorse. Must be good all round, chassis, bulkhead and engine. Would consider TD5 or 200/300 tdi. Up to £10k for right machine, pre Midlands area. What's out there please?

Have to change the propshaft. Bolts and nuts move Ok but its a slow old job inching them around with a 13mm open ended spanner. Is there a special (thin) ring spanner/ratchet spammer or even a thin wall long socket that anyone uses to get onto them?

Getting a lot of vague slack on steering wheel. All the wheel bearings OK and new drop arm last year. Opened bonnet and grasped the knuckle joint of the steering rod. With engine off I can turn this either way to make steering wheel move about 20 degree each way, with no wheel movement. Guess it...

Have Defender 110 Pick up. Could do with a rear work light off the back of the Cab. Already have a front light bar with 3 lights on top of cab. But would need rear light switched separately and presumably it's own relay. Or perhaps a low current LED taking a feed from inside light?? Perhaps...

Had the head off and it was blowing well between 2 and 3. Skim and pressure test and all sorted. Engineer gave me a tip. Put some grease under the cylinder head bolt flanges, otherwise they "creak" and you get a false torque reading.
