Potential new Series 2a owner with questions on powerplant and drivetrain

2.25 petrol not comfortable at 50? Really? Mine will happily cruise at 60 all day with standard diffs and 7.50 tyres.

Potential new Series 2a owner with questions on powerplant and drivetrain

Why would it be hairy? I frequently drive on 60mph roads and dual carriageways with my S3 with no problems at all. If yours is hairy to drive at 60 then it is likely that the brakes or steering have something wrong with them. Low range in traffic? I find the standard ratios more than low enough...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Easy, just flush the blocked heater matrix, unblock the valve on top of the engine and replace the wiring to the blower.

What have you done to your Landie today.

Fixed the heater on my 88". I can now see where I am going without having to wipe the condensation off the screen every couple of minutes. It still only has 2 heat settings though, hot and very hot.

    Canvas Roof Height?

Just measured mine, when empty the height from the ground to the highest point of the roof is 198cm. That is an 88 on 7.50 tyres. From the top of the door to the top of the roof is 25 cm.

    Series 3 steering wheel removal

One thing I would suggest is to loosen the nut off but not take it off completely. The first time I took mine off it needed a bit of force and when it broke free it flew off the shaft and smacked me across the nose.

    Wanted Series drop down tailgate

Are you likely to be heading down this way anytime soon? If not I can probably meet somewhere convenient for both of us to collect it

Series 3 dead electrics then smoke from component on jump starting

This might be a stupid question, but are you sure your landy hasn't got a positive earth? This would certainly explain the sparks when connecting the leads.

I have a proper Landy again!

The paint is a bit too far gone for just t-cut, I think the guy who last painted did it with his eyes closed! It is definitely not a county, it started life as a Hardtop. I am going to going to paint it pastel green and covert it to a soft top eventually.

I have a proper Landy again!

After 4 years of Freelander ownership I have gone back to having a proper Landy again, a 1980 Series 3. Paint work isn't great, in fact it looks like it was painted by a blind man in a hurry but structurally and mechanically it is great. Just drove 180 miles from Chelmsford at 60-65 mph with no...
