    Brake disc perservation

With some performance disks they have a thin covering of anti rust rust coating that wears off where the brake pads rub but stays on where the disc needs protection. Black diamond discs show an example of this. Also you can get brake discs that have anodising on them that do the same thing as...

Defender engine swap 200tdi temp sender

As some of you may know me and chunkymunky recently fitted a 200tdi into his early defender 2.5td. I cant seem to get the temp gauge right, it was showing just below red on the standard 200tdi sender so it was replaced with sender PRC6663. It is still reading about 3/4 when warm even though...

    HiLift Jack

I found my hi-lift an invaluable piece of kit. Ive always been able to get my self out of stuck situations removing mine. They are dangerous though if things go wrong. A few years ago I was lowering down a scrap jaguar with mine after i had jacked it up to remove the wheels and my hands...

    pulling

Sounds to me something isnt quite right with your td5. My 300 tdi disco i use to tow my VERY heavy flat bed with cars such as s-type merc's etc on it no problem, which weigh more than your caravan. I would get your egr valve blanked off as they are nothing but crap, then go from there.

Sinking Evoque at Slindon this weekend

Personally hats off to him. I was at billing in 2007 (the very wet one) and saw a brand new range rover slip of the track into the lake lol. If these vehicles are not being off roaded they just get mocked for being Chelsea tractors. He's taken it far past what land rover envisioned off roading...

about to buy a lightweight / air portable

Im not a lightweight expert by anymeans but i do know to check for rust more than anything on one of these. Especially the bulkhead at the top as these are very expensive to replace. The running gear is the the same or very similar to any series so just check the essentials. I dont know if...

Keeps cutting out after first few miles

It could be the zenith carb. Then again I had a 2.25 which did exactly the same thing. I found it was the lift pump which when hot was getting fuel evaporation. I changed it and all was well.

What torque wrench to but for a series 3?

In the case of the OP he was asking about a torque wrench, and all i mentioned is what i had, Then everyone jumped down my throat and went completly off thread.

What torque wrench to but for a series 3?

Weekend mechanic i completely accept that the halfords range is acceptable. For the professional they are not. But back to the torque wrench. As it is an accurate tool i recommend the best you can afford as cheap ones that are not accurate can cause serious problems with snapped head or cam...

What torque wrench to but for a series 3?

Also if Halfords was as good as Teng, Beta or SnapOn, and at a 1/4 of the price, all these companies would be out of business. But Halfords are still cheap poor quality tools so professionals and people who rely on quality products have to buy proper manufactures.

What torque wrench to but for a series 3?

As I said I only have a SnapOn torque wrench and diagnostic equipment. Im not rough will my tools but I use them constantly for my livelihood. Therefore i have high quality tools as stuff like draper or halfords would wear out and is also not up to the task. When a cheap ass spanner or socket...
