Other what have u done on ur disco today

Your disco is much prettier than mine. It looks well cared for, I like it. Mine is what you would call used and abused.

Oh the joys of having a nice dry area to work. I'm watching the rain think about all the jobs I could be doing.

Other what have u done on ur disco today

Took my d1 300tdi for some welding to the off side boot floor around the wheel arch today all done and coated for 100 notes( seamed very reasonable to me) followed by popping to get it retested. Now i have a 12 month mot again. Woohoo. I'd forgotten how much of a head turner the old girl is...

    Discovery 2 steering

I have read a few guides on steering issues i don't consider myself an expert by any means but from what I have read if your steering doesn't return to centre on its own then you've gone to far with tightening it. When you adjusted it did you turn it from 1 full lock to the other feeling for any...

Other what have u done on ur disco today

After spending a few days fixing some known issues such as bearings and play in the steering. It took a few days as I don't have a garage and had to work between the rain storms, I took my 98 300tdi for its mot today which it failed on some rust near rear os suspension mount. Which means after a...

Has anyone actually cured death wobble properly?

Yeah if you do all the bushings bit by bit you'd think you would get a bit of improvement each time you swap something for new. Have you tried swapping your tyres front to back? Perhaps you have a tyre slightly out of round. Or perhaps a bit of all of the above accumulating into death wobble.

Has anyone actually cured death wobble properly?

Just popped into my head. Have you looked at your steering box drop arm? Could it be slightly loose or worn?

Has anyone actually cured death wobble properly?

Theres a few d1s around my area. I even followed a very shiny standard original looking v8 d1 the other day. I pulled out behind him and as I accelerated I though oh no whats that burning oil smell. I was relieved to realise it was the v8 and not my fugly beast of a 300tdi.

Do you have an abs light on the dash when you turn the electrics on? I have a 98 auto which does have abs. The abs light comes on once electrics are on then on mine stays on for a few yards as i set off. I've only felt it work once. Feel through the brake pedal was like any other abs equipped...

1992 200tdi Discovery- gradually improving my daily driver

I know that the passenger side tends to take more stress but whats the condition of the other cv joint? I think I'd still have to check it all over if it was me. Probably as I have ****e luck when it comes to cars.

I know pretty much zero about discos yet but isn't it likely the other swivel will go the same way sooner or later? Assuming it is the same ages as the 1 you just replaced. Unless you just checked it over looking for play.

I would imagine so. I do find a video helps greatly though. Even if its just so I know what I'm reading about. I'm not foolish enough to discount any forms of knowledge. Especially as I'm still a total novice to all things land rover. I keep finding my self reading anything and everything I can...

A rub down and underseal is definitely on my list. As for learning I go with the new old style. I watch seasoned pros on YouTube then have a crack at it. So far ive been enjoying learning the ins and outs of the d1. Having had jap imports before im loving the availability/cheapness of parts in...

Thanks for the welcome. A welder is on my list of things I need. I figure I'll learn as I go. To be fair its not in bad shape. Mostly surface rust. I've had a good mooch round and found a small hole in the floor and 1 in the outer from arch. The boot floor seems solid as do the rear arches. I'm...

Have to say this has been a nice interesting read. There is something to be said for the d1 in original unabused condition. Keep up the good work.
