Do you have an abs light on the dash when you turn the electrics on? I have a 98 auto which does have abs. The abs light comes on once electrics are on then on mine stays on for a few yards as i set off. I've only felt it work once. Feel through the brake pedal was like any other abs equipped vehicle.

Lift the bonnet the abs pump will be on the nearside inner wing between the washer bottle & air box.

thanks marmaduke, I have now looked and it appears that I do not have ABS,which poses another question, is the bumping on the brake pedal definately a rear brake problem, or could there be another cause maybe?
