Tyre choice might help. Keep them carefully inflated, perhaps slightly firm. Choose a narrower tyre to reduce road friction. Remember that you need to save enough money on mpg in order to pay for new tyres before you even start making a saving! 35mpg is pretty good for an l-series. Cheers...

Mrs Blip does about 10-12,000k in her Puma 90 a year. Previously used a Greelander but not enough boot space. I've now inherited the TD4 so my Defender 90 is my second car. It doesn't like sitting around! Cheers Bluppie

What comes from the exhaust pipe when it starts. There are loads of threads on similar problems, so have a good look at the forum when you've looked at the colour and the amount of smoke that emanates. Tuning-diesels for cheaper diesel tuning. is also useful. Cheers Blippie
