if ya buy them from a factor and they come from quinton hazzel check they the right threads rh/lh worked in factors for a while forever getting them wrongly boxed.
According to the Haynes new testament, it's main purpose is to prolong the life of the main fuel filter but as hughesy says defenders don't av them and to be honest my disco is the only motor I've ever owned thats had one (30 cars to date of various manufacturers) and assuming your not filling...
never lifted a tdi but me and me mate have lifted a 3.5 v8 less ancilleries into and out of the back of a series 3 was reasonably easy but think a tdi lump may be a slighty more wieghty. Another idea, guessin you don't but do you have access to an engine crane??
may i suggest a winch bumper (with winch of course) and a set of ground anchors and snatch blocks. In this event at least you have someway of self recovery. Or if you dont fancy the winch on your vehicle try a tirfor type winch like I carry plus the ground anchors
Was thinking of 3.5 efi out of a sd1 vitesse 190 bhp 220 lbft in the last 1986 cars. Or try a small block chevy, if you have an understanding wife/bank manager:D
Thinking of possibly getting some gaiters to theoretically keep my not very old swivel balls in good nick. Just before i spend money has anyone else used them and if so do they actually work or are they just a waste of time and money? cheers
seems a hell of a lot for something thats held on to the chassis by two bolts take longer to bleed the system through than it will to change it lol how long ago did it fail it's test? think if its retested within 7 or 14 days of failing at the same test station (cant quite remember) it should be...
when I used to have a series 3 I needed to replace the filter head. I went to my motor factors and they fitted me up with a filter and filter head from a ford escort van filter was about £3 and the filter head was about £25 if I remember rightly. In theory should be able to do the same with...
Inner wings, boot floor, sills, rear door shuts, roof, chassis (the whole thing) oh and like ive just discovered on mine check the rear quarter panels actually attached to the body on its lower edge mine aint, wondered what the rattle was lol:D
think some ford anglias had a similar problem back in the 60s, most ok just the odd one and seem to remeber reading there was no known cause or cure to it only that certain brands of tires made it worse.
theres some pipes around that area check their condition. Alternatively when you removed the old filter did its seal come with it? Had one before got stuck to the filter head and didnt notice it put the new one on over it leaked like a bitch lol
