Can I do that myself?

White. No oil in coolant or mayonnaise in oil cap. Deffo not head gasket. Starts and idles fine. Drives fine. Just annoying smoke.

Hi all. Changed turbo in my freelander 1 diesel as she was smoking TD4. Now better but smokes after turbo has kicked in. Checked filters and hoses. Breather and that little cyclone filter too. Going mad as can’t sort it. Any ideas?

Thanks It seems to be working but smokes line a train when she warms up a bit Do you think turbo is cooked ? Isles fine but when gets warm starts smoking after I throttle her up

tried with magnet and also endoscop camera It’s wedged way back in. I will leave it. Thanks

Brilliant mate. Yes. It was quite a job to do that pump but at least I have the special tool. Ow in my shed !! Will put it all back together later. Just love freelander!!

Hi I managed to drop a small bolt down behind the high pressure diesel pump It’s wedged in down there. My question is is it safe to leave as is. Or is there an opening in the timing chest where it could drop down into engine? I replaced that pump a while back and don’t want to do remove again

Hi thanks I have checked all the hoses and removed and cleaned them. My suspicion is the turbo as I can’t hear it no more? Next step I will remove breather under air filter and check that and then check as you say. Many thanks for the help mate. It’s frustrating

Hi all. lucky owner of two freelander TD4 but one has started to smoke at full throttle Was hearing turbo kick in for a while and now no whistling just a lot of smoke. Is turbo knackered you think ? If so any pointers on removing without taking diff out ? Done that on a early 2000 freelander...
