Wabco compressor - piston ring swap in York

Good call. No mention of disconnecting the battery. Maybe I won´t need to...

Wabco compressor - piston ring swap in York

Most probably, yes. That may be a good way to go. As long as the battery is disconnected, the compressor shouldn´t try and re pressure the system. Just need to find my stereo code now... o_O

Wabco compressor - piston ring swap in York

Trying to avoid disconnecting the battery, but even so, the system will still be under pressure, correct?

Wabco compressor - piston ring swap in York

My compressor is starting to groan a bit and I need to get the piston ring changed for one of those "improved vehicle component" ones (got it this morning in the post). Trouble is, I don´t have a Nanocom to decompress the system, we live in a flat, and my local specialist is busy until the week...

Disco 2 Headlight washer non-return valve.

That's great, thanks. I just need to find out if it requires the bumper to be removed.

Disco 2 Headlight washer non-return valve.

Absolutely right. I actually got hold of an old NRV and I can blow through it with no resistance, whereas the new one is very tight and doesn't allow any air through. I'm guessing the diaphragm is past its best. Will get it changed over the weekend and I'll report back. Thanks for all the help.

Disco 2 Headlight washer non-return valve.

Thanks neilly. Pump's ok. I can use the washers, no problem, they just leak when the water level in the bottle is above the jets. Got the nrv in the post today, just wondering if anyone had done it before.

Disco 2 Headlight washer non-return valve.

Need to change this as the water in my bottle keeps peeing out of the headlight washer jets. When the water level drops below the height of the headlight washers it stops, but by then I've already wasted a few litres of it. Anyone knows if I need to remove the whole bumper to access it? Mine's...

Water in fuel sensor not testing bulb on startup

I'll be conscious of where I post from now on, thanks :o The light's not come on for the past 2 days, so whatever I did, looks like it cured it, at least for now.

    UFI fuel filter

Sorry, should've mentioned it before. Got it off micksgarage_uk on eBay. About the only place where I could find it. Apparently the new UFI warehouse will be up and running this month so we'll be able to buy it directly from them.

Water in fuel sensor not testing bulb on startup

Water sensor light has been coming on intermittently for a few days. I changed the fuel filter and thoroughly cleaned the sensor (wd40 and contact cleaner), thinking it would just be a dirty connector. Light's still coming on, despite the fuel filter change and clean. What's strange is that...

    UFI fuel filter

Little update on the filter. Received it and replaced the old one with no trouble at all. The UFi filter is the same shape as the original LR one (it probably is the original one, with different markings), down to the tapered bottom where the water sensor screws into. It's even painted black...

How long did that last?... :D

    UFI fuel filter

I agree, great engines, but only if you look after it properly. Give it Aldi Cola instead of genuine Coke and it has a fit :D

    UFI fuel filter

On a different note, I emailed UFI to check for distributors in the UK and the guy told me that they´re opening their own warehouse this month down south and they will stock the LR refs. Saves us having to deal with potential fakes and over inflated prices (hopefully)

    UFI fuel filter

Very true There was actually a guy on another forum (can´t seem to find the link) that cut the original LR filter open, as well as an aftermarket one, and what he found was that the LR filter was made with some sort of velvety material, very fine and smooth. The aftermarket one was made with a...

    UFI fuel filter

Thanks for the input. Interesting to know! Unfortunately I can't tell if it's fake or not, but for £25 it better be the real deal!

    UFI fuel filter

Thanks neilly I do think the price of original LR filters is absurd, but looking at the price of those UFi filters, even though they're almost half the originals, they're still 4 times the price of a Mahle one. Surely there must be a difference in quality somewhere...

    UFI fuel filter

I've always used original LR (last change about 1 year ago @ 160k miles) but lately the price has gone up considerably, hence the search for a decent alternative. I don't think Mahle, Bearmach etc are worth the risk tbh. The price may be appealing but I was put off by a reputable mechanic...
