Yep, Waxoiled. I’ll get her on a ramp and inspect it when I get a chance. My only reservation is the KPH Speedo and metric computer. I haven’t seen it in the flesh, brought it in December in the lockdown. I thought it’d be taking the **** to drive from the IOW to Yorkshire to view. I hope I...

On a different note, this is being delivered on Thursday, Jap import from a dealer in York. 98 4.6 HSE, 88k miles. Wish me luck! On the bright side having owned the 95 4.0L for 6 years I know what to expect!

    P38A Electrical issue

Something similar happened to my P38 a week or so ago. The connector plug to the alarm sounder had fried and blew fuse 44. This also took out the air suspension where a max 35 mph warning showed. I isolated the sounder and the fault cleared. Now the strange thing is that the HVAC has always...

P38 dhse 98/99 help needed please

Had the same with my 4.0l P38. Fuse 44 kept blowing so EAS showed the 35 mph max warning. The connector to the alarm sounder was fried. (Pic attached) I’ve disconnected it replaced the fuse and the EAS works as it’s meant to, no warnings.

P38A EAS issue 35mph max, normal ride light only.

Yep, no self respecting P38 owner should be without one, let alone owning 2!

P38A EAS issue 35mph max, normal ride light only.

Yep agreed but still would have had to clean connectors in footwell side panel I recon. Rx values were only seen after I did that. Though after I replaced the fuse the fault cleared so no need to have got the unlock cable and software on this occasion. Still it passed a few hours and I learnt a...

P38A EAS issue 35mph max, normal ride light only.

Thanks Brian, new 10A fuse fitted, engine started with no 35mph warning, EAS cycles up and down as it should! While I was out I picked up Soldering iron (couldn’t find mine!) solder, shrink sleeve and heat gun. A job for when it a tad warmer! Many thanks gents for all the tech direction. Till...

P38A EAS issue 35mph max, normal ride light only.

A guick update. I pulled the connector off of the BBUS. Apart from the corrosion and 1 of the 4 pins pulling out of the unit and staying in the plug pin 4 looks to have melted the connector locally. Pics attached. I’m out of 10a fuses so need a trip out to find some before I can see if it’s...

Just a thought, if it’s not the alarm sounder then it’s the timer relay under the seat?

P38A EAS issue 35mph max, normal ride light only.

I’m going get round to that tomcat after I sort the blown fuse. Having had my head in there to clean them I’m not looking forward to soldering them! Looks like a 3 handed job and room for 1..... I think I’ll Tin the ends, overlap the ends and twist a bit of light gauge fuse wire to hold them...

Thanks. I’ll isolate the alarm sounder then try another fuse to begin with. If that works I’ll run and clear faults then run again to see what come up. I’d be ****ed if someone stole the Old Girl, I’d rather they nicked the iPace! I’ll let you know how I get on.
