    sounds like fuel starvation same happened to me yesterday but at 30 mph pulled over waited 2 mins and fired up again, took the fuel pump out of the tank and cleaned the filter and all seems well again, might be a starting point, but check the basics first as above. PaulT

    Page 90 of Practical performance Magazine interesting article on headgasket problems on the K series engine, Freelander gets a mention apparantly Payen or LR double multi layer gaskets are the way to go. PaulT

    Rear diff getting hot

    The diff was fitted by an independant not Land Rover and paid for by the previous owner so unsure where i will stand at that. Will get some oil as recommended above and do the spit test, my father in law has a Freelander to so will check the diff on this to see how they compare. Many thanks PaulT

    I have put a mark on as i had tyre issues which are now sorted, i marked front prop vcu unit and rear prop in one line, couple of miles later i have movemnt on the line so i presume alls well with the vcu, maybe its me being paranoid as have only had front wheel drive cars before LOL Cheers...
