This seems to be very Dark smoke, almost Black........... should I worry?

The EGR valve is gone and blanked off, but would the pipes and/or blocked intercooler cause the black smoke on start-up?:confused:

Hi KaOs, It's black, and it only smokes briefly, but it smokes a bit when labouring up hill towing the trailer or caravan.

anyone have any ideas on this? '96 Disco Tdi, auto, smokes like a B*****d when i start it up! Either hot or cold, have replaced the glow plugs which didn't seem to cure it a lot. replaced the air filter with no visible difference. Could it be Injectors?????:confused: or the pump?????:confused...

I bought the radio in france, and the plug on the back of the unit, is a lot smaller than the iso plugs on the wiring in the car. do you think that they use a different size adapter in europe? or are they the same in the uk?

If you enjoy the disco, then why get rid? my transplant including fitting came to less than £450! and for that money i got a 2.5 Tdi with 57,000 miles on the clock, fitted with auto transmission, ( 'cos i'm a lazy s***!) and fuel bills that are up to 50% lower than the V8 i had in it...

Fatrover is right, throw the gas guzzler away, and fit the diesel, amazing difference to your pocket, and 'cos you have the V8 fuel tank, you will be amazed at how many miles you can get on a tankfull. Mine's around 600!
