Hope nobody is going to shout at me for posting a wanted item in this section, but if you have a 5 bearing 2.25 petrol engine spare I am looking for one. My own engine blows and eats oil. Its for my S3.

Anybody got a very cheap 2.25 5 bearing petrol engine for sale. Condition not too important as will rebuild if nec.

rebuilt my own gearbox and its a pain in the ass to do.

sorry might be too late but did you put the 3/4 hub in the correct way. It does have a front and back.

wrong starter switch - new one ordered from paddocks. If its a brit part it will need to be replaced in abought two weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

have only recently bought a series 3 and already I would avoid Brit part bits at all costs. They seem to only cause more problems than they solve. Why do Paddocks sell brit parts?

Bought a series 3 a few months ago starting it is a bit wierd. On all modern cars you turn the key all the way round, which engages the starter and the engine starts. On my landy you turn the key all the way round and the starter turns over the engine but it will not start until you let the key...

sorry to tell you but you are not allowed to carry children in the back of your land rover if there are no seat belts fitted. Have just check and I will now have to fit belts to my Swb safari. Anybody done this?:confused:

they are not complex to rebuild but just a lot of hassle. For example getting the main shaft into the casing and the layshaft into its bearings.

From my experience of rebuilding my complete gearbox, I would go and buy a reconditioned unit. Rebuilding them is a complete pain in the ass.

I am also having trouble with S3 10inch brakes. just fitted new drums and shoes and two new rear cylinders. The brakes are terrible they judder so badly. I have had the drums of three times and things look ok. It is really annoying when new parts are fitting and the bloody things cause problems.

also fitted new rear wheel cylinders and bleed system as per handbook. The car stops ok. Will check that new drums are sittting correctly and take it from there. Thanks for your help

Have a series 3 with the 10inch brakes front and rear. Have replaced shoes and drums. Used good quality shoes not brit part. However the brake pedal is going up and down when it is pressed. This would usually mean an out of round brake drum but I have fitted 4 new ones. Anybody got any ideas.

sorry clutch release bearing will be noisy when driving but should go away when clutch pedal is pressed.

if you press the clutch pedal down to the floor and the noise goes away and returns when pedal is up - it is the clutch release bearing that has gone.
