Diff oil and transfer gl4 or gl5?

I remember reading that gl5 eats brass and is therefor not suitable for use in the diffs. I just checked the comma oils website and it says use gl5 for diffs and not the transfer. So what do you use gl4 for all or a mix gl4 transfer and gl5 diffs? cheers people James

    300tdi broken rocker shaft

Well thought i'd try sticking another rocker set in the truck to see if that made a difference to the supect rear rocker. So i went scrap yard hunting and after failing to find any 300 tdis decided to borrow the rockers from my defender. Great idea but a massive failure opened up the lid on mine...

    300tdi broken rocker shaft

Ok a friend bought a disco the other day then rang me up saying its sounds really tappety. So i said i'd have a gander. Pulled the lid off to find the rocker closest to the bulkhead loose and the shim off the top of the valve stem missing. Little bit of fishing to find the shim and i thought...

TD5 Disco Lumpy idle and underpowered

Think i may have cracked it now tested the loom at and injector continuity at the ecu plug and found no problems then went to scope the ecu output but my cheapo laptop scope gave up the ghost so i dug the old injector loom out of the bin and extended the wiring so i could swap plugs 1 and 2. Ran...

TD5 Disco Lumpy idle and underpowered

Just borrowed a t4 landrover diagnostic tester (omitec) which i think is exactly the same as a hawkeye before rebranding and the only fault its showing is Fault 3192 : Injector 2 peak charge short logged. Same fault with to different testers now and this one is land rover branded! Does...

TD5 Disco Lumpy idle and underpowered

Ok that has made very little difference apart from there is no weeping from the fuel pressure regulator now. I decided to go deeper on the codes and started doing actuation tests and injector no 2 the one with the code flagged makes considerably less of a click when actuated in comparison to all...

TD5 Disco Lumpy idle and underpowered

thanks for the info the regulator and injector loom arrived last night so i'll give them a whirl and see if i get rid of any codes if that fails then i'll have to check out the timing chain but would that not flag crank sensor problems?

TD5 Disco Lumpy idle and underpowered

Removed the inlet manifold egr valve and cleaned and checked operation valve is definately shut at idle so shouldn't cause this. I have ordered an injector loom due to the oil ingress at injector plugs and a new pressure regulator and filter/gaskets because the regulator was weeping at the...

Hi guys a friend of mine has a 1998 disco td5 which just recently developed a poor idle missfire and underpowered when driving. My carman scan wouldn't connect so i borrowed a friends autodiagnos and got 5 codes 2 were for air conditioning which is not fitted to the car so i'm not including...

Difference between normal, wide angle & double cardan props??

aren't some double cardan props supplied with output flanges so you just change the flange and seals rather than tranfer box/ drive couplings???

    110 300tdi lift kit confusion

I have purchased a 2" Lift kit with shocks springs new turret rings and extended brake lines. I also have a full poly bush kit to fit at the same time, From what i have been reading it is quite likely that this lift is gonna wreck my prop uj's and balls up my steering geometry. I read that...

What is Neccesary For a Defender 2 Inch lift?

Gonna lift the defender when i rebuild all the suspension, axles etc. Obvious things needed for the lift are Shocks, springs , extended brake lines, turret rings. With a 2 inch lift are cranked arms and propshaft spacers needed? Is there anything vitally important i have overlooked? cheers
