Yeah was considering recon'd as well. Thinking of getting a L230 with 1.6 ratio as I have 33" tyres and one day will likely have 35" ones as well. We'll see. All dependant on money. Spent this much so far so what's a **** load more? lol

Just bought new diff and transfer box oil, might get enough time to change it tonight after work. Noticed that my transfer box has a fair amount of backlash. I'm hoping doing the oil change will quieten it down a bit for now (unlikely) but it does seem to be a bit low on oil so it's worth doing...

    Other Discovery off road

Those arches look like Jeep Wrangler arches, bit lary but when the tyres are that big!

Cheers mate, I agree plus the wider track should help with grip through the ruts (running more on the side walls of ruts either side) and stability on road :)

Unfortunately once poking it holes appear, the chassis was also separating at the back. Also it's a 2a not a 2b. 2b's had the headlights lower down, plus this is 3 years too old to be a series 2b as it's 1964 and the 2b came out in 1967

Got the bits together enough so I can drive it for a while. Wow, it feel so good on the road now. I checked over everything, all bolts tightened or torqued up to correct settings all wheels checked, propshaft back on all bolts tightened and checked, wheel bearings checked etc and it feel so...

    1964 Series 2A 109 Forward Control

Here we go with yet another one of my Dad's project Land Rovers. Hopefully this year is the year that it all starts coming back together, with a new chassis and "new" engine. As far as we can tell from the history of the vehicle it was used in the military and used to be (still registered as)...

    Project Rusty.

Where about's were those lanes matey? That looks super fun, I want to give that bit a go that defeated you all. I like a challenge! Loving the project though. Don't worry about the rust, it wouldn't be a genuine Land Rover without it.

Some more photos from when I was out in the snow. This one was fun, I had to clear the way of a snow drift that was about 3ft deep. Was blown over a country road and no one could get through. Didn't stop me getting stuck though! luckily got towed out as was with my mates. This was also...

Got the tyres swapped over. Had a lot of fun in the snow, will upload some photos soon. Sheered a caliper bolt, so the drivers brake caliper was ratcheting against the wheel. Got to get new bolts. Haven't had a change to inspect the caliper/pads so will check those when I next get the wheel...

Oh and regarding the wheel, as the stud holes are marginally enlarged, I'm taking it to get the tyres swapped over with my spare. just to be on the safe side.

    Discovery 300Tdi Off Roader

So it snowed a **** ton the last few days. Yesterday I was getting rather pained knowing I own an Discovery and can't use it so I thought I'm going home and going to get it sorted one way or another. The idea I had was to remove the good studs from the broken hub, and transfer them to the...

    Discovery 300Tdi Off Roader

Sunday I went to take the hub off and it was all going good. Prefitted bearings into the new hub in the morning and then went to fit it in the afternoon State of the studs on the original hub The wheel wasn't actually bad at all, the holes look fine so I should be able to reuse it no issue...

Oh also wired in some LED's to the rear door but they are extremely dim for some reason. Either they are **** (ordered from AliExpress.. lol) or something isn't right. They're not flickering and connections are all fine as far as I can tell.

So as the rear doughnut was well and truly dead (although I have seen worse) it was causing all sorts of vibrations, time to replace. To remove the old flange, did a technique from a youtube video, works so so well. New 4 bolt flange on, torqued up to 130nm old vs new Amazing...
