Hi all

Just taken ownership of a Defender 90 200TDI - 1987. It looks as if it may have a non-Landrover sunroof fitted (was a sunroof ever even factory fitted into the early Defenders?).....and I've discovered it leaks like a bar steward. The latch (which is a clamp type, not a wheel) is also broken . So it looks like the unit needs to come out. I think I've got two options - and a few questions:

1) Repair and seal properly and live with a dodgy latch (is it possible to buy latches only?). I need a decent sealant for this that will seal the frame to the roof - can anyone recommend something good?
2) Replace with a land rover sunroof. But I don't know whether the PO cut the hole to fit the unit - ie. not standard size. I can measure the hole once the unit is out. Can anyone tell me what is the right size hole?

For interest, the current unit is:

Glass: 75 x 39cm + 1 cm gap (each side) where the seal is + 2cm (each side) for frame

Thanks all

Depends what version you have. Csw would have one SW might. Aftermarket conversion types not worth the hassle, might as well get a scrapper roofing as lining with seals for the sunroof.
Most here would testify you be lucky with sunroof leaking as defenders leak constantly by traditional wet kneecap syndrome 馃檮 even with a dry day it leaking 馃ゴ

I've just got some alloy layered to fit flush in the hole on mine (and another with a border to cover the joint on the inside).

When I get around to it I'm going to bond the whole lot in and be shot of it for good.

(I have a non sunroof liner to add also though)

:) I might be on that road if I can't get it to stop leaking! Then buy a headlining kit without the sunroof opening...

Before someone else says it, it's a Ninety not a 90.
It's probably/possibly/most likely a Discovery 200td engine, maybe!
