That's because it's for a 200, 300 or td5 to upgrade it to take the later type abs servo and improve braking on those. You could fit a new servo of the type already fitted and it'll help but there are a lot of other things you could do that would...
I had something similar with one of mine years ago. Eventually it was traced to a cheap servo that was actually flexing when the pedal was pushed, so the brakes were always vague. A new quality servo fixed the problem
Funny you should say that I noticed mine doing that very thing last night. I pressed the brake pedal with a pole whilst feeling the master cylinder so I could tell when the piston was actually engaged and I could physically see the face of the...
I had already adjusted the push rod and I'm wary of adjusting it too much and putting constant pressure on the piston itself. The actual brake pedal has about 15mm or so of free play before it actuates the pushrod so I'm happy with that but...
Twice now my Defender has failed its MOT and subsequent retest due to the brake pedal having too much travel. The tester said that he knows the brakes are there and they work but the pedal has got too much travel and is nearing the floor when...
I fitted led lights to mine ages ago and never had a problem even with the original relay. That being said I've somehow got 3 of the adjustable ones so if you do need one give me a shout, I'll never use them
Probably a long shot but has anyone in central Scotland got a 300tdi Defender drivers side seatbelt kicking about? Mine failed its MOT on some wear to the belt and i won't get one in till next week now if I order online which means having it off...
Any thoughts what on adhesive to use for sticking these in ?? I was going to use Evo Stik contact adhesive, but that’s not going to give me much leeway and adjustment. I need something that will allow me at least a little movement to get it into...
Yea I know that it is hard to measure and do it just by feel.
The last time I replaced mines master I could not get it to bleed at all. Turned out the new master was gooie inside and at the first press piston stuck at the bottom though doubt it...
I had this on mine with the caliper on the rear left taking the thicker pads and the one on the right the thinner ones. Took me longer than id care to admit (that and I didn't want to spend the money) to realise that id obviously replaced the...
How do I do the Naked Gun facepalm gif?
The one shot grease works absolutely fine, pretty much most people use it including myself and I've never her a problem with it. Your grease isn't going in because you scooped it into a ****ing funnel and...
Is this how the grease you used came ??
If yes, this packaging is designed for the narrow end to go into the “whole”. It is well designed and it works well, with no requirement to heat it or remove the grease prior to using it.
Yeah, it's supposed to be 0.5mm clearance which isn't exactly easy to work out but it's definitely making contact with the piston, I'll just need to try and find the correct length to adjust it to as there doesn't seem to be any set figure.
I'll...
Have you checked the amount of free play the pushrod to master has? It is only a very small amount but if too much no brakes. No freeplay and brakes will stick on some.
Adjust your steering lock stops. And buy actual swivel grease in the tubes, you don't remove it from the tube like that before using it. Do you squeeze all your toothpaste into a bowl first anaw?
I've replaced my brake master cylinder tonight and after being hopeful my brakes would be sorted they're now even worse than before. Despite bleeding 3 times including cracking the brake pipe unions at the master cylinder (with no air coming out...
the bolt hole is so you can fit a heavy duty or extended roof rack. They have supports that bolt down to the rear crossmember and that bracket on the windscreen. Pics from Google:
Maybe it's time to do test's that we know are wrong
Disconnect the inlet air pipe from the back of the air filter - yours is a defender so it's different from the disco I have
Disconnect the turbo to injector pump pipe
and see the results - if...
Never seen ones with a bolt on the outside. Has someone drilled all the way through and used a nut and bolt as a fix for a stripped thread? The new brackets will have three threaded holes and you screw bolts into front inside.
