Don’t know if of interest or not, but people may find use in the routine I use for areas like chassis where rust is present but not terminal.
Step one - Clean with degreaser. I use screwfix no nonsense. It’s excellent and doesn’t burn through...
Today’s work involved removing what was left of the floor.
Using this as an opportunity to remove and sort the fuel sedimented which was seized up.
I also ended up removing the seat clasp boxes either side as the wheel arches are rusty and will...
Morning mate, will likely be MS I think. More to try and make it reliable and get the timing a bit more tuned in. I’ll also be looking to add a more aggressive cam, manifolds etc and hopefully I can map to suit this.
Nigel - mr megasquirt...
If its the intank pump fitting the tank I think they are the same fitting too.
If you have the wires in the loom you mayalso have a spare space in the fuse box for a fuse and relay?
Basically, anything past the 3.9 does away with the dizzy. the...
I’ll have a look mate. I was thinking same as Phil. Your correct, 300 does just have sender but I think in tank pump is same thread as sender. Will soon find out. The loom looks identical but I’ve got a full v8 loom on way from an ES so tempted...
Cheers. Loads of reading/learning to do. @marjon mentioned trigger wheel etc which all needs to be considered. I’m not near ready to drop in engine yet but working at it each week and won’t be long until I need to look at wiring.
It sounds like...
Iv been past RPI near Norwich twice this week & saw some nice classics RR outside with big 3” exhaust pipes.
The SIL is running megasquirt on the forward control. This was out on the road the other week, says safer to fix than flapper/hotwire...
Yeah have to send exchange as they don’t keep them in stock now. 8-12 weeks turnaround I think she said.
I’m just going to have a bottom end from them and build myself as built petrol engines before. Albeit with 4 less cylinders. Seems quite...
Happy to be advised - half the reason I log this all is to get your opinions!
Tangle… yes…. We had to do a big of a trig exercise with the winch to get the disco out my gates. Loom was dangling in bay. Stupid I know. I was more concerned about...
Welding on new mounts to chassis - yrm do them I think?! It will be v8 bellhousing with upgraded TC. I could initially run Hotwire but it just seems to make sense to megasquirt from beginning? The megasquirt isn’t a drop compared to turners cost.
Well this is the damage that I caused and has tipped the decision for the vehicles heart.
As per my other thread I’ve been umming and arring on to v8 or not but I’ve just bought a v8 ES auto loom.
Need to pop Dave an email to confirm but my zf...
All the parts are available, but there is lots to think about.
The gearbox will need the V8 belhousing and possible a different input shaft. Think it will put up with the 4.0 thor.
Flywheel and clutch setups are in use on some vechile (as above...
Dickhead of a job. Shearing rusty bolts. Rusty tow bar, rusty step. Pain. Knew it would be awkward but it wasn’t that bad last time I did it.
Progress is progress though…
They do mate via spot welds. Yeah totally get that - it becomes a mare when outside and you can’t keep it sealed up. I’m sure I saw threaded holes right next to the side pieces too but can’t remember now?
My new floor turned up but I got a load...
Latest update, productive afternoon yesterday! Got most of the floor out.
The corners are utterly buggered, so I’m hoping the repair panels will help. I’m also going to have to do some fabrication at the bottom of the door panels and...
If you want to tie into the rear quarters like it is front factory, the rear quarters have 90 degree angle at bottom that the side pieces go to. Also looks like these have been eaten away by tin worm. You going to remove rear quarters?
Exciting times. I had those panels off quicker than you could change a set of wheels 😂
O/S rear quarter. No damage to the seat belt anchoring area on this one. So thankfully again, no damage to to top of the posts. Get in.
After a small clean and hoover.
Chassis looks good 😊😊😊
One small patch on the trapezium but that loooks like it so far 👌
I haven’t taken side out yet as need to remove other rear quarter and take some measurements for the braces for the new...
Rich had patched up the rear boot floor, which was fine for few years but 30 year old spot weld seams only last so long.
I’ve decided that it will get totally new floor to go with a new rear crossmember. Even managed to snap my spot weld bit so...
Nothing too heavy to sort on nearside rear. Nice outcome. Top of d pillar thankfully clean - it’s one of the worst jobs to do that corner.
Got a patch to cut out, new arch to go in and remove and reinstall belt reinforcement plate so that I can...
I don’t use the centre spring loaded ones anymore as I always end up jamming them up. I use a solid one. As above, use cutting oil. Probably not the best but I keep a bottle from my last service and use it as cutting oil in my oil squirter can...
already fitted mate as dash is all out for the recolour. I prepped dash and then added binder and what I’d call a scrub coat which is colour coat by hand.
Also mate (you may already know), if you plan to use dicky seats, their belt anchors are in rear quarter. There’s a panel fold spot weld join to the right of c pillar bottom, and then 105mm to the right of c pillar is a reinforcement plate. Rear...
