    P38A Experience with poly bushes

Retired for 21 years but still paying my taxes :( What I can never understand is why the repairs don't last, is it shoddy workmanship or cost cutting on materials? When the Yanks built air-bases here during WW2 they used huge machines that laid concrete runways on prepared agricultural land...

    P38A Experience with poly bushes

'Tell you something I've found on my RRC (yes I know that's not a P38, but the same thinking could apply) in that tyre age can make a noticeable difference to the ride on tarmac. My '87 Vogue, on coils obviously, has General Grabber AT tyres that are now 12 years old so the rubber has hardened &...

    P38A Tuning the 4.0 thor

Didn't know that LPG was still obtainable, can't remember the last time I passed a garage that sold it. OK in cylinders & better suited to rural gas boilers & fork-lifts ;) Thought I'd save money by having my 3.9 RRC converted to gas back in the early 'noughties .. bad mistake. E5 for my...

RRC with the best parts from newer RR

Lucky there, my '87 Vogue has LR developed anti-roll bars retro-fitted by one of it's two previous owners, sacrificing (allegedly) only half-an-inch of suspension travel, for those few owners that would have actually ventured off-road ;)

RRC with the best parts from newer RR

I confess to not being an engineer, but don't have to look far to find a level of irony in your plan. As I understand it you want to take the best Range Rover model the old Rover Co (latterly LandRover) ever made, renown for it's ability, reliability & mechanical simplicity .. then throw in the...

    Classic Questions regarding the future

One last point of view on what has been an interesting discussion & one close to my heart as a one-time owner of four RRC's, all V8 autos. It's all very well valuing these cars at £10-15K for something decent rising to £30K for a really good one, but you still have to find the right buyer. My...

    P38A Tuning the 4.0 thor

I would have thought so as a cam change will effect the characteristics of the engine on it's own. Thread carefully as the factory engine would have been to a spec. suited to the model. Remember Newton's third law

    Rough idle and running rich

Beware mixing/matching different components, the basic engine design is essentially the same but some of the ancillaries are not. 3.5 distributors can have different part numbers for different model years, not just carb or efi variants. nb. not a fan of PS components or their customer service...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Told my Classic to stop complaining about getting a little more use over the past 3 months (might even cover 1000m this year) & being parked in the open for the past 17 years .. though I did wish it a happy 38th birthday & promised to rectify the non-operational NSF window ;)

    Series 3 V8 startermotor alternatives?

They don't eat copper, it's the chemicals in the plastic insulation that the little sods have a taste for. nb. novel tailgate ;)

    Land Rover Series III Lightweight

Just a thought .. AC isn't efficient in a car unless the window are kept closed, so are you going to benefit from it in a rag-top LR ?

RRC V8 3,9 vogue SE vaccum hoses setting

Correct. Up to the '86 MY the fresh air flap was controlled by a simple linkage, but then LR 'improved' it by means of a vacuum operated solenoid. When mine failed & a replacement was no longer available I simply closed off the vacuum pipe & left the flap permanently open.

RRC V8 3,9 vogue SE vaccum hoses setting

The connection on the plenum is for the vacuum hose mentioned in my post #2 No idea on the other (cut) one. I'll have a look next time I'm around mine, though being a 3.5efi it might be different.
