Erm, so where was I ...... OK I was Adjusting the wastegate to give a little more squeeze, and was edging up a bit at a time when at 14 psi it started to get noisy, you guessed it, we have found the limit of the original inter-cooler core, which...
Scabby wheels:
I'm a shallow guy who likes shiny things I suppose
These were contributing to the Stop this and throw the book at it Look .
It's a pain to rub them down, but the weather isn't great and Neither is the Telly,so after an hour or...
It is more or less ready to use now, I have went through most of it and have sorted what needed sorting and will use and evaluate what happens next.
Rear axle: oil changed, new calipers and pads. Will change out backplates for the MOT as they...
Been Busy doing battle with the Landy the last couple of days. It would appear that some work was done at chassis exchange time, but very little thereafter, so lots of siezed /mullered bolts, but slowly getting there. All lubricants renewed...
The Main battle commences tomorrow with a visit to the steam cleaner. I have been over it with my cold machine and got about 80% of the crud off, so should only take an hour or so to go over it, then it starts in earnest. I'll be down at my old...
The 2nd battle for the brakes
The fronts were not really much better than the rears, but the N/S Freed off and got put back together
The O/S was a different story the outer freed off, but the inner refuses to move, so I've put in a slightly...
The War of the Land Rover.
Pt. 1 The battle for the brakes
It is Mot'd until the end of Sept, so I have a bit of time to sort it out. Since getting it I have roughed out a plan of attack. 1. Do something about the Driving position. Defenders are...
Well enjoy working on your pride and joy…found the same working on my old pal… a lot of the parts I found were not quite to the same standard as the old stuff…bit of a mine field finding parts. Shop carefully boss. 👍
Spending a few bob on my Landy making things look nicer and getting a few nice goody’s because haven’t in a while
Always wanted one of these tow balls and stumped out over £40 quid and this is how it turns up, its quite scrappy do da day but of...
New HT leads and new fuel filter fitted. Just waiting for the new distributor cap and rotor to arrive. I changed the plugs (lordy!) for new and all the screw on caps were loose, they are not now. It is firing better but not perfect yet. The...
If you replace the steel plate that is riveted to the gearbox tunnel along with the auto selector and the complete CDL selector from the D2. It will all swap over to the D1.
You will however need to modify the level on the gearbox end for the...
The two hoses that run along the chassis are only available together - LR do sell them, but they're not cheap especially the earlier one (to VIN3A828006) which is over double the price of the later one.
The connectors are 7.89mm.
Those two pictures of the gauge show it is charging. What is the alternator rated to? 60-80A is common I think, and that is at max revs. It probably pushes 40A or less normally (I don’t think it will fail and over-charge, just undercharge). I...
Hiya ppl , I ain’t been on for years now,
As the tittle says I brought a rough running v8 90 3.9 efi .
Ticked over nice but as soon as you revved it up it was spluttering dying coughing all over the place, kept losing pressure on the fpr...
New 1.6mm ali inner wing liners cut to shape and ready to be panel bonded and rivited over the original wings to give a smooth as new finish to the inside of the tub, also bonded 2mm sheet to the original floor here it is with some weight on it...
It might be worth checking the grounding of the gauge and the wiring? I had a very similar issue with my new to me 110, the needle on the gauge would go right up into the red looking like it was overheating, but actually the issue seemed to be...
30-40 minute install (used a vacuum pump to drain the old tank). Two trips down the highway and around town, no leaks… turned out much simpler than I thought it would!
There was only one generation of Freelander 2 (with a mild facelift). However, there have been several variants and generations of the BMW X5. So it will largely come down to what you are actually comparing.
Four gens of X5 according to Wiki...
Reviving this. I have a misfire at high revs now (didn’t a couple of weeks ago) after the alternator pulley pinged off. Car is a 3.9 EFi, now in a ex-TDi Discovery. Belt is now back on and the alternator (200A version) is raising the twin...
A misfire at high revs could be a number of things. I think I might start with the ignition amplifier. Also check the battery and the alternator output. Vac leak is a possibility and unfortunately so is HGF, so maybe do a full (wet and dry)...
A few makes that in my opinion are the best quality you can get:
DAYCO or GATES for belts, tensioners, pulleys
LEMFORDER for balljoints A Frame and other suspension parts
TIMKEN bearings and races
