That is the correct belt routing for a 3.9 without an AC compressor.
The disco1 3.9 was never fitted with carburettors, anyway the 3.9 has two belts to pick from, ERR4623 and ERR5579 if fitted with AC… also as always its depending on engine...
Typically (mostly but not always) rubber things from Britpart are not as robust as OEM parts. Hoses and seals spring to mind. Some metal parts are OK (nuts and bolts for example) with the exception of bearings which in the main are nowhere near...
Yes, I bought a Britpart top hose to replace the original one on the 200tdi, I put the original back on.
Bypass hose on the 200tdi I had no choice to replace with Britpart, I throw it away every time I have to take it off, which is a regular...
Literally nothing.
Just look at a few adverts on ebay etc, old land rover discovery/range rover woth big miles = worthless
My D3 is on 170k and I reckon it might be worth 2k on a good day, and everything works on it.
Hi all,
I am looking into swapping my daily driver / work car. It is an old V70 2001 D5 volvo, which has been good since the first time it came in the family. I learned to drive in that thing 20 years ago and still love it. But with a 3th child...
Really Anaconda? A 20 year old original hose with 20 years wear / tear and temp cycling, will still be better than a new Britpart one? Are Britpart that bad?
I've always had best results using Permatex on the valley gasket. Around the corner coolant passages both sides (as shown in post 119), but also a thin bead along the actual block where the rubber seals go.
Also make sure you don't overtighten...
I’m changing mine as it is probably the original (1995) and will be adding an Allisport version. Andrew there has been excellent with his assistance as my rad is a TDi still even though a v8 3.9 EFi has been dropped in.
Thermosats are cheap...
Yeah cylinder 8 bore actually looks fine form those new pictures.
From the pictures it does not look like any of your liners have slipped either.
You might have a coolant leak past the hg into your cylinders but its kinda hard to tell that from...
Morning,
Good news is that the heads are off.
Bad news - the gaskets look like they're in pretty good nick to me. I was praying for an obvious blown gasket, but it seems that's not the case.
Did some searching on other forums and may have found an answer… crack on the underside of the reservoir tank … had the exact same location of leakage and for about the same period of time driving to get it hot. Must’ve caused it to start...
Hi everyone, I’m new here. Bought my first Defender just before Christmas and have been on this (and other!) forums pretty much every day since. I live SW London / Surrey and definitely appreciate the advice of everyone on here. My first post...
3.9 EFi on a sepentine belt, yes.
Photo of the front of the engine Discool? I'm trying to get to the underneath to see the existing pump, however there is a long 'thin' one (ie stretched parallel to the ground if you will) and a more compacted...
I do like this guy's videos (although he goes on a bit).
The £90 check and certificate only works for cars from 2012 onwards.
I'm just happy to accept that mine has some random (real or fake) Overfinch cosmetics. Including the front and rear...
Reviving this old thread, but I have searched and obviously there are VIN databases. When a V8 is changed from one Rover to another, it is unlikely to be the same year (engine and chassis numbers), so is there a engine database? So I can check...
If you read the link you will see what they should be doing. "Prolonged period" is rubbish, but they do need to rev it up to the rev limiter for a short while.
This is why they check with you that your cam belt has been changed according to...
Morning everyone. Kenyan resident here, and acquired a Disco Mk1 for a thing called Rhino Charge, a charity event raising money to preserve water courses coming down the Mountain (Charity is called Rhino Ark). The car was #43 last year, however...
Would be interesting to know! Africa is great, but spares are the real issue here. Toyota spares are readily available, especially for a 70 series landcruiser. Disco 1&2, RR and original defender too, however even rover guys here will admit...
thanks for the reply! yes, unfortunately there isn't anyone who hasn't flat out said "Toyota Landcruiser" in any case we will have a mechanic on board. With 3 cars I am hoping to bring some parts and spares for the journey and in the event of...
Hi there - I am looking for a Discovery 4 expert to help me buy 3 used Discovery 4's for a drive that will take us from London down the West Coast of Africa to Capetown. I know there are some issues with the Discovery so having someone who can...
