Nice.
Now I've got my new workshop roof basically finished, I can sort out the mess, I mean tools that are all over the place, going rusty from the deluges they were getting through the winter.
That looks like a splendid, well organised, clean, well stocked garage. The stuff of dreams for me in my penthouse flat with an on-street parking space.
Yeah, if I do recon the VCU it's definitely the drill and drain method. I'm in no way confident I could stick weld it back together.
I hadn't considered having a shop do the fitting of bearings. That was my main concern as I don't have a press...
If someone has been poking around and not managed to fix this, and you're bit by bit confirming the individual components, does this point to faulty wiring or damaged ECM(s) somwhere that is obviously difficult to find? Water ingress or something...
Keep us posted on your progress Philip. I'm particularly interested if you can crack the instrument cluster. Are any/all those iso files of interest to you btw?
I now have some more Freelander 1 ECUs to reverse engineer:-
Instrument cluster
Diesel burning heater
V6 cruise control ECU.
For the TD4 it appears to be built into the engine ECU, at least from a diagnostics point of view.
I know it's difficult to find someone with it and looking around landy and rover forums there is demand for T4 use, that seems alot of money given other systems do ALMOST everything it does.
It's a few years since I put poly arb bushes on mine but I'm pretty sure I did it with the car on the gound, lying underneath without too much of a problem. I also fitted some split collars to the bar at the same time to stop it moving about.
To solve this and any further high pressure fuelling problems that come my way, I have purchased a 6,000 PSI gauge and an adaptor that will fit into the hp pressure sensor hole.
This will allow rail monitoring. If low I can also fit the gauge to...
I probably have the files for a disk to be burned so will have a look at the weekend for you if you like? @Arctic2 sent me a load of files a while ago when I was keen on fitting a sensor and activating my ipack to show ambient temperature but...
This is a glorious sight. I wonder what the Tesla/Polestar (enter any other EV vehicle here) owners make of it when they drive in and are looking for a charger...
Well done for getting it sorted.
As a matter of interest, can you buy the sockets those chargers plug in to?
Might stick 1 on the side of my Freelanders so I can plug a charger in and make it look like its charging. Quite often the charging...
So after a couple of weeks procrastinating I finally made time to try and figure out how to make the charger work at a commercial EVSE which the setup above failed to achieve.
It works great at home but commercial chargers require a low...
Switched out the RH upper engine mount insulator for a nice shiny new LR one.
It’s oil(?) filled, and was flagged as suspect whilst having some work done the other week. Sure enough, it was leaking when I got it out.
Think the tie-bar rubber is...
Hello everyone! Finally I have good news: My Freelander is back on the road! The only problem was actually the large fuse 120A from the alternator. Nothing else broke. I had no chance to get the fuse here. That's why I had to order it. When you...
