Picked up a hand held CB radio yesterday (Thunderpole TX) and fitted the mount for the antenna.
But I didn't have anyway to mount the radio to the RAM mounts I have.
So I had to design one and 3D print it out of ASA. The design allows for the...
A colleague of mine has got into 3D printing in a big way and some of the stuff he is doing is really very good. He can do pretty detailed pieces and the stuff he's made has a robust feeling that I didn't expect from layers of melted plastic...
I decided to go to a master electrician and boom, I found a bad wire connection, a broken wire on pin 2, giving off weak voltage and the body of the wiper motor was not in contact with the bodywork as it was receiving little current. The master...
It has all been cleaned out, new filters and oil.
Set of injectors to go in tomorrow from a spare working vehicle when the seals and washers arrive and then see what happens !!
Wow. Those pics are incredible. If it runs in good order after sorting that egr and manifold, and the lack of filter/oil changes has not killed it I shall be very impressed. Keep us informed Andy
MOT history says all is mostly well.
Know nothing of engine failure details but have a spare !!
Would be rare for a TD4 to destruct unless turbo has caused run away.
Paid about the price of tyres on it so worth a shot.
When I retrieved the transmission bits off my K Series parts car, I removed the exhaust.
Its no good to me so sat in the garage for years.
Eventually had a clear out and listed it on the Kiwi version of eBay. Not the slightest of interest...
I've always tried to buy genuine, oem or "known good manufacturers" parts over the years but it seems to me to be pot luck. I find it especially frunstrating when I've had to replace a part that has probably been on the car since new - I'll get a...
SOLVED
The clunking was the o/s BRAND NEW Borg & Beck top mount bearing on the strut.
Identified and switched out for a LR top mount bearing, no more clunking!
The guys at https://www.freelanderspecialist.com/ found it inside 5 minutes. They...

All the LR diagrams are there with all the parts listed. It's a very useful resource
Very good sir! Point of order noted. Apologies for my tardiness.
I probably ought to have said in a most likely VERY well built garage in the proud ancient county of Armagh but I was a bit lazy.
In my defense 20 miles is in the commuter zone...
I don't know what you do for a living but if I was writing computer programs I'd be concerned.
Or anything that can be done sitting in front of a computer for that matter. It was only a few months ago I tried to get ChatGPT to write something...
I'm liking your approach here. You've done all the heavy lifting of the actual build and are now thinking about everything and getting to grips with all the little day to day usability improvements. Manufacturers spend millions on this kind of...
You'll not be surprised to learn of another issue that only came up while testing with the battery nearly full.
I set it to charge remotely while I was able to watch it and was pleased to see it working as described right up until the charge...
Just a wee update on driving and charging.
The car has been driving great since the 12V relay module was replaced. :D I've only driven around miles 60 since but it's been flawless. TBH I had always questioned the wisdom of using ultra cheap...
Yesterday I had the wheels aligned. The nearside rear was a pig as the suspension is all original on that side but the guy used Oxy to heat the nuts and they moved easily. All the rest had been loosened before so were not too bad but the job...
