Well that is the last of the ABS saga at least for a while!
New CV & Shaft. Lights came back... 🤷♂️
New sensor in lights gone!
Funny how the sensor lasted a year to the day! But its a 2 year warranty so will be going back to Island4x4 for a...
I’ve done the front pillars. You need to drill out the spot welds to get the old part off. Replacements are available from YRM. They recommend installing these using structural adhesive, obviously as most of us don’t have access to an aluminum...
Well, I tried the connector block with the multimeter and all shows well/ Then I put the light back on and the low beam failed; I then tried linking the lights terminals swapped over and back again and all's well. This shws the light is OK, but...
@Anaconda - actually, you were right! Your train of thought got me thinking, and I removed the spacer washers on the outer rear bolt, and it not all works fine :) . All it needed was to look at it with a fresh pair of eyes, so thanks very much much!
Honestly I don't think this one leaks at all! I know its practically unheard of with any Land Rover, never mind one that's almost 40!
There could be a small leak somewhere I haven't spotted yet, but I got way more on the ground trying to drain...
tbh, I'm amazed how anyone can buy a vehicle and know nothing about it. Missing front prop? Sounds like an utter bodge job tbh. If you knew all the issues before your purchased and how to fix them, then maybe it could represent a bargain. I truly...
Got an oil pump for the bonneville engine I am rebuilding, off the bay. An original item, cost 5 sovs. Compared to unbranded repros at 70 sovs or branded for 120+ sovs. Modern ones made with brass bodies, originals in bronze. Checked with a...
Afternoon folks :).
Well Air BnB are us, yesterday. Flyin use the facilities have breakfast and leave:p.
Its Stork (big chicken)time:p
We have had a few late arrivals today as it started to be drizzly which is not helpful for the flying, so we...
Update for anyone interested:
So I worked out with some testing with a new temp sender (PRC2505) and taking the gauge out to test separately that there was an earthing issue with the gauge. Connected up on my bench to a power supply and the...
For big trips.
Few bits of straight pipe(various sizes(slide in each other to save space)
Straight metal joiners for pipes
electric fuel pump
2xujs(make sure they fit front rear props)
Diesel filter
That’s about it… all other stuff I could...
It's more likely to be that the swivel ball will be damaged (worn, pitted etc) which in turn wears the seal.
To get everything back to 100% i'd reccommend that you change the whole lot, bearings, seals everything.
If you have any sort of lift...
Yup normal. Took the balancer off the front, got some flat bar, rotated the crank till 2 of the bolts where vertical (had to turn the steering full left), marked the bar, drilled 2 holes. Made a cut out for the crank bolt.
Bolted the bar onto...
You’re right, diesels weren’t fitted with them and early petrols were. Seems a bit daft not having one - the last lift pump I changed had a load of crap inside that was causing intermittent fuel supply issues.
The one I have looked at getting is...
Chassis build up is on hold again for the moment as I need to focus on completing a different project first.
However I have been looking at developing a new warning light cluster. My original idea was to remove this cluster and the smaller...
Switch off keyless entry, it stops the doors being unlocked by people using scanners.
Later model Land Rovers have all had extra security added during software updates making them difficult to steal hence insurance premiums lowering. Ghosts are...
Took my TD5 out for a drive. It is now pretty much rattle free after adjusting the rear end door and passenger door.
Also the new drop arm seems to have improved the steering kick back on pot holes. I'm happy with the little improvements.
